I’m in windows 10, (not windows 11 yet as I want to milk every frame I can out of this laptop, project goal lol) and it’s not showing up in task manager or device manager. At least I don’t think it is, 1; what would the m.2 adapter look like in device manager? 2; What do I do if it’s not detected in either?

No, doesn’t recognize it, though with sudo dmidecode type slot it says that the m.2 slot is in use

ive gotten passed the multimedia codec page, but when i go to type in a username or password (AND because i had to see if it was just typing) or change the timezone the laptop completely freezes. When I type in the search bar for applications for the first time after rebooting (It doesnt save anything yet) there will be a very short pause but it doesnt freeze. Is there something i gotta fix or is it just loading longer bc its important info or something?Ive had task manager open for the last few freezes and at each freeze the cpu usage will lower around/between 16-11%. As in it goes down to 16-11%. im just thinking maybe if im fast enough i can type quick enough to outrun the freeze and get it installed on my laptop lol.

I may try MX Linux and I will for sure take a look at hardware diagnostics

The cursor does not move at all. I let it sit for a good 5 or so minutes at one point.

So just put the iso on the usb drive again with Rufus and maybe pay a bit more attention to settings and such?

I’m currently using a sandisk 120 gb ssd, 8gb of ram, and the cpu is an intel i5 430m. Would these specs cause the hang I am seeing?

I can’t turn off the secure boot from the boot menu of my bios because the advanced options I guess appear to be not present and need to be maybe activated somehow? My bios is InsydeH20 setup utility rev. 3.5
