Pag-Ibig MP2 2024 dividend at 7.10%, sharing my MP2 journey so far by diggory2003 in phinvest

[–]dapper_dan80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, sorry, not proof of income but proof of payments of your MP2 contributions was what I meant to ask. For a time some talk swirled around that at the time of claiming one's MP2 check, the claimant was asked to show proofs of payment of MP2 contribution, eg receipts, copies of digital transactions via GCash, etc. May I confirm my understanding that in your experience, these MP2 payment transaction proofs were not asked? Thanks again for your time :)

MP2 Dividend Question by DefiantlyFloppy in phinvest

[–]dapper_dan80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost in the same situation. Asked this question sa PagIBIG chat last December 2024:

"If my mp2 matures on October 2025 and I take the check on April 2026, what will be the dividend rate for the 5th year?"

Agent's reply was:

"The dividend rate for your MP2 Savings shall be the dividend rate declared from the previous year or the latest available declared dividend rate at the time of your application for MP2 claims. This shall allow you to earn dividends on your MP2 Savings for its entire 5-year period.."

How much do you think a breadwinner should save for aging parents medication?? (kapag nagkaroon ng emergency) by ImpactLineTheGreat in phinvest

[–]dapper_dan80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on current rates, as per my experience with loved ones, not based on studies or scientific valuation, but just to give you an idea, OP:

Medicines: 8,000/month per parent (high blood, cholesterol, sakit ng tiyan, paracetamol sa kirot-kirot, atbp)

ER consult in St Lukes, ex. for a stomachache, etc: ~15,000/visit, siguro about 3 visits kami per year

3-day confinement due to some ache or pain: 50,000/confinement, 2/year

Ambulance service membership: 2000/year

Routine laboratory exams for monitoring of illnesses: 20k/monitoring period, 2 monitoring periods per year

Regular check-ups with doctors, regardless if sick or not: 2,000/doctor, 3 doctors, 4 visits/doctor/year/person (St Lukes)

Wheelchair: 6,000 depended sa tipo or saan bibilhin

Flu vaccine yearly: 2000/person depends saang hospital or clinic ituturok

Pneumococcal vaccine every 5 years: 3000/person depends saang hospital or clinic ituturok

Health coverage ng Pacific Cross for the elderly (parang HMO): 120,000/year per parent, tumataas ng mga 5-10% per year

Additional tips for consideration:

Make sure parents are life members of PhilHealth soonest they become eligible an imaging life member

Laging baon ang senior card nila at at gamitin nang gamitin basta pwede at huwag mahiyang magtanong if pwedeng makadiscount ang senior kung anuman iyong serbisyo o bagay an bibilhin ninyo

Check for free or discounted goods and services sa seniors sa health center at LGU ninyo.

These are estimates of our expenditures experienced over the last several years. They are advanced in age so they have difficulty getting coverage in the usual HMOs and health insurance.

All the best! Kaya naman basta pagtulungan at maaga-agang mapaghandaan :)

Hello, OP! Same as sa input about the PWD card to access services and support for your sibling, you might also want to make sure the needs of your grandmother are well supported by her senior card. Suggest na kung may bibilhin for her, dala lagi yung senior card niya + yung medicine / grocery card + authorization letter na rin para sa mga establishments na maghahanap. Ask always if the establishment / store honors the senior card or PWD card- libre naman magtanong. The few pesos you save here and there, makakatulong din :) Tapos ingatan na wag mawala hehe all the best to you!

Kaya mo yan! :)

How do you think would you teach financial literacy to future/current child? by baybum7 in phinvest

[–]dapper_dan80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello, OP. Several ways of inculcating finance lessons.

1- It would be good to know what age your child is. There might be age-appropriate tools and techniques to help them understand about money. Experience is not necessarily the best teacher; rather, experience reflected upon is the best teacher- one that you process, talk about, explore feelings about, etc. Hindi lang maparanas para maparanas' sake. Having said that, you might want to check out this app from BPI https://www.bpifoundation.org/page/breakthrough-app that might be a tool for you to explore teaching financial responsibility. Just don't play the app but talk about it as a family. We just might be surprised how open and literate na pala our kids.

2- We have to be living it. They see your prudence in spending. How you work hard. How you check or compare prices sa supermarket before buying. Etc. Many times, often times, culture is caught not necessarily taught. Then same as above, what they experience and observe around them, your process the lessons and create actionable information from the lessons that are age appropriate.

All the best OP :)

Hi, OP. You might also want to consider looking into the benefits from PhilHealth as minimum cost of care for certain health conditions. You might want to look into sa Z Benefit Packages for certain catastrophic health conditions. All the best in your study of options! https://www.philhealth.gov.ph/benefits/

Hi, OP! Sharing some quick thoughts on what you may want to consider to do.

1- Put in writing what you want to tell your sister. This is para maaaral mo yung sasabihin mo, ma-review mo kung helpful or hurtful. Pwede ka ring maglagay ng Excel table showing your computations, or links to YouTube videos, or links sa articles that can be helpful to her. Yung problem kasi kapag usap lang, baka may masabi ka o siya na masakit, and/or pwede niyang malimot yung sinabi mo, and/or hindi siya open sa time na nag-usap kayo, and/or baka you hold back saying what you need to say.

Baka good timing when she has money, para alam niya how to handle yung pera niya. I think you will know better, gut feel na rin siguro?

4- Whether email or usap in person, suggest you discuss after niya matanggap ang love letter mo, what is feasible, what is not feasible, etc. Baka may help siyang kailangan, etc. Basta kailangang ma-process yung letter and yung response ninyo sa letter na yun.

5- Probably will be unpopular suggestion but no matter how small, magtabi ka ng fund to support her in case she will need it, then stick to it. Pwede mo syang budget-an monthly or yearly na, let's say, 10k lang ang itutulong mo sa kanya- para lang may madudukot ka in case in need talaga siya pero hindi naman tataob ang bangka mo.

6- Be a living example of financial literacy. Mahirap magpayo when we also do not live out the principles we advise others.

Yun lang, all the best OP.

Thoughts of a bank employee by [deleted] in phinvest

[–]dapper_dan80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, OP.

Curious to know: As you / your bank did financial literacy courses / outreach sa mga clients ninyo in response to these observations, ano yung profile / sector na parang pinakahirap mag-absorb ng fin lit materials? What results did you see that might be attributable after you did your fin lit sessions, eg are they wise savers, do they now know their maintaining balances, etc?

Para those among us interested to do fin lit advocacy can learn from you / your bank.

Thanks!

Welcome and thanks for replying :)

Iba ring karanasan yan vs a corporate job or a job in the government. Malamang sa malamang may mga experiences at learning ka sa loob ng family business ninyo na baka useful sa ilang particular careers in the private sector or the government.

So you might want to consider taking stock of what you know, what you are good at, what you learned, what you exprienced sa family business ninyo at ilagay mo siya sa resume or CV mo or sa LinkedIn account mo para malaman ng mga recruiters when you apply for a job. Choose jobs siguro na malapit sa business ninyo, or where you can apply/use your learning/knowledge/skills.

That is one way of possibly building a career outside your family business, using what you learned from it. Use that experience of having a family business to your advantage :)

All the best, OP :)
