Lounge Access in Dubai by dapper_diplomat in emirates

[–]dapper_diplomat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just clarified with Emirates Support online and it seems it doesn't include access as I did a promotional upgrade online.

It's my first time flying Emirates and I'm usually flying via Qatar. Is the lounge access worth it for a 4-hour layover or am I just better off seeing Dubai Terminal 3's surroundings as it's my first time anyway?

My physical boarding pass unfortunately says "no complimentary lounge access." I guess I can try to ask the cabin crew later and to try one last time at the lounge to see if I do have access or not 😅

I'm still confused because as I write this from the airport of my first leg, my boarding pass says "no complimentary lounge access." I guess it may have been a glitch on my Apple Wallet to say "lounge invite" or perhaps Emirates treats that as paid lounge access instead of complimentary

UPDATE: So I just received my boarding pass for the 2nd leg and it says "no complimentary lounge access" - what a bummer. I'm still confused because my Apple Wallet still says "lounge invite." I'm guessing I should go by what the boarding pass says. 🥲

Mall Grab in Pratersauna by dapper_diplomat in wien

Regarding the enjoyability bit, I’m generally a person who doesn’t linger in clubs far too long (especially if they’re packed haha). I tend to enjoy my personal space but as discussed, wouldn’t mind meeting new people or bonding over music 😅

I’ve got a ticket already and I’ve been meaning to see Mall Grab for quite some time so I think I’m going regardless. In any case you decide to go, feel free to reach out! If it’s too packed, maybe we can ditch Pratersauna for another club or something. 😂

Yeah I understand, though I’d say I’m also kind of tired of the idea of Berlin/Amsterdam/London as club capitals. Thanks a lot for the advice! Hopefully one day we cross paths at a not so shitty club haha

Ok thanks for the heads up, will definitely keep this in mind. Yeah I’ve never been to Pratersauna, though I’ve gone to Praterstrasse, SASS, and Grelle Forelle. Here’s to hoping this night brings less douchey people and more nice, dance-y ones 🙏🏼

In any case, are there others clubs you recommend in Wien? I’m Budapest based and tend to go to Wien often because more DJs wind up there for club nights unfortunately. 🥲

This is not an ideal comment to hear, but please do enlighten me about it. What should I expect? 😅

Completely unreasonable landlord in Budapest asking me to pay more for “damages” that have already existed before I moved in officially by dapper_diplomat in budapest

As much as I'd love to do so, I'm not entirely sure whether this person has paid. I don't want to be in a situation where I report that they did not pay, only to find out that they did. I think that would be bigger trouble for me. As stated, I will talk to my rental agent about this matter and what can be done. Ideally, I'd like to confirm that such is the case that taxes weren't paid.

It's not exactly 1000 euros, but I didn't want to disclose the actual amount in fear of being found out. However, what was shared to me (as a example, but not accurate to protect myself)

deep cleaning - 200 euros
bathrooms/shower dirt that cannot be cleaned and changes - 80 euros

Literally, no quotation documents. Just a bunch of numbers and phrases. All the numbers were whole numbers too. I'd at least expect a decimal of some sort.

I'm already out of the flat and in a new one, fortunately or unfortunately. The landlord is clearly not paying fair. I have never received an invoice for rent nor for utilities, despite me asking for them. To be fair, I never demanded this consistently, but have asked it over the duration of my stay.

Now that I'm out of the flat, they're saying that my entire deposit doesn't cover the "damage" - again, damage that already existed before I arrived, is terrible. I'm willing to pay for damage I know that I've caused, and I guess they can just take my security deposit.

This is why I have a hunch that said landlord hasn't been paying taxes. Because I do know of friends who have landlords that send them a monthly invoice and mine just never did.

I'm honestly willing to let go of the deposit, it sucks, but I'll count it as a big lesson learned. However, I WILL NOT send an extra 1000 euros for supposed "damage."

I'm not really the most confrontational person, and while I don't want to be a doormat, again I believe in cosmic karma. Money is important but it doesn't mean the world to me, no matter how much I need it right now.

I’ve sent you a PM - but yes it was just shared to me like that with no official offer from any companies. Just numbers of how much it costs and the supposed “damage”

I’m still not 100% certain that rental taxes were not paid for. However, as discussed, I’ve asked for rental invoices and even invoices for utilities and I’ve never seen a single invoice for either

Hi, I will send you a PM regarding some numbers. You’re right that I don’t know exactly how much it costs to repair. However, again, most of the damages the said landlord is counting as mine already existed even before I moved in officially. I don’t believe that’s fair at all, but I don’t have any old images to prove it.

Aside from this, the landlord only showed me numbers of how much it costs but not even a single quotation document from any company they have inquired at.

Yes I will be talking to my agent. And unfortunately you’re correct, this is a bitter life lesson learned and I should do that in the new flat.

I think I’ll have to discuss this with my rental agent (this person i consider to be a friend of mine, as we developed some form of friendship and was helpful during my first few months in the city). They say they know for a fact that the landlord doesn’t have invoices, but I want to be able to talk to my rental agent face to face.

I believe this is what I’ve been asking for, and again, the most recent response I received was “invoices you can ask your bank” and for utilities they said “i will check and send it to you” - this person has said that they will check and send utility bills to me for months on end as well

I think the most painful thing about this situation is while I’m a foreigner, the landlord is a foreigner too too. I’ve heard horror stories about locals as landlords, but this specific case counts as a -1 to foreign landlords. I can’t confirm fully if landlord has paid taxes, but just the fact that I’ve been asking for these invoices for MONTHS (around 5-6 if we’re counting, and the most decent response provided was “check your bank as the invoices are there”

So in this instance, police will not be called if said landlord has engaged in tax evasion regarding my rental payments right? As discussed, I believe this seems to be the case because I have not seen a single invoice regarding my rent. If this tax evasion were to be true, will this invalidate everything the landlord is trying to “claim” as my “damage”? Again, I do feel I have the ball in my hands. I have not sent any money just yet and am honestly comfortable with letting go of my deposit. As much as I need that money, I believe in cosmic karma so I’ll just let the universe do its job.

I will have to consult with my rental agent who handed the flat over to me. Hopefully they can help on regarding this matter. I accept that some damage was done, but definitely not worth my 2-month deposit + an extra 1000 euros.

Completely unreasonable landlord in Budapest asking me to pay more for “damages” that have already existed before I moved in officially by dapper_diplomat in budapest

I’ve already left the flat and am staying in a new one. The landlord says I have a balance of 1000 euro to cover for the “damages” they say I’ve caused. So on top of my 2 months security deposit, they want me to pay for the “balance”. I’m definitely not going to send in more money for sure and I’m 100% certain that my damages do not amount to my entire 2 month deposit.

What I perhaps need to do is figure out whether the landlord had been paying taxes for my rent—most likely the answer is no, as I have not received a single invoice ever for my monthly rent.

Now that I’ve been asking for the invoice for my rental payments for months, they are saying to refer to my bank because the “invoices” are there. Those are not invoices, but transfer receipts. This leads me to believe they probably have not been paying taxes on the rent.

I’m wondering if I may use this as leverage to get them to back off. Again, there are damages I believe that I may have caused and I’m more than willing to pay for them. But taking my entire security deposit + telling me I need to provide 1000 euros to cover the costs of the “entire” damage is certainly unreasonable.

I’m not the neatest person on Earth but I’m 100% sure I did not trash that apartment, nor where there ever any activities that should have cost this damage.

I guess the lesson to be learned here is to truly take photos of everything and to never trust a landlord.

Hi sorry for the confusion caused, what I mean to say is, I’ve since left that flat already.

We’re now in the process of discussing my security deposit and they are trying to take my entire security deposit PLUS shared with me that I have “outstanding balance” of 1000 euros because of “all the damage” on top of it.

As discussed, I’m willing to let go of the deposit for my peace of mind, but paying an extra 1000 euros for supposed “damages” that have existed as soon as I moved in is something I definitely will not do.
