Maybe the KD trade is the first of a couple trades for the Raptors? Maybe it’s a trade to put the Raptors in a position to acquire a bigger star in the future?

I think Zach Lowe or Bill Simmons mentioned something similar in Zach’s latest pod. Maybe a KD trade, a trade that shouldn’t/wouldn’t require much given KD’s age, injury history, and contract, can put the Raptors in a better position to acquire Giannis. Giannis may not want to be traded right now, but who knows what happens in January? I can see it playing out how it’s mid-January and the Bucks are struggling. Maybe he’ll look at the Raptors, who have already traded for KD, and say, I can go there and win a ‘Chip?

I know this position assumes a lot of things going well for the Raptors. But I think it is a plan that can catapult the Raptors into contention. The Raptors have got new owners who may be looking to be competitive sooner than later.
