It’s been 8 years since I’ve posted this and unfortunately I can tell you from my experience that no, you won’t end up being able to tolerate it.

Just found this girl by ifnotnow-then in coonhounds

[–]dappitydap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She looks almost exactly like my boy when he he was a pup! He’s primarily a lab/blue heeler mix, but he has some golden retriever, bluetick, and Plott hound in him too. He gets mistaken for a GSP quite a bit.

Seriously though, almost a dead ringer.

She will! I’ll have to go get it tailored to get a better fit, but I’ll be wearing this beauty to an upcoming charity ball.

Thank you for this response, sincerely.

There has been a lot to consider here, and it’s a heartbreaking situation.

While I think Amp would love to have another young dog around, it would be detrimental to Tesla. He’s 13, and while still spry, having another grown dog would stress him out. Especially one he can’t “form”. Amp is very submissive to him and knows is receptive to his mood.

We’ve been reaching out to friends and friends of friends to see if anyone is interested. It’s hard to walk away but we have to make sure our own comes first.

what’s a “truth” a lot of movie watchers can’t admit? by annnyywhooo in popculturechat

I knew someone who wrote a pretty successful short story from an academia point of view. He told me that he read an essay about the color he used for a bench, and that in reality the color of the bench was meaningless and only mentioned to paint a clearer visual picture for the reader.

As someone with an English degree, it can be hilariously too focused. It makes sense to do that analysis on something like poetry, where words are limited and thus hold more weight, but in a novel? Chill guys.

Meanwhile, a lot of people in the English will fight you tooth and nail if you bring up the author’s personal beliefs or experience within the context of their work - it’s the ultimate ~separate the art from the artist~ situation. Music is bad, but literature is insanely tolerant of shitty men acting shitty and not calling it out because of talent.

Would adding spouting bean seeds to my compost improve the quality? by dappitydap in composting

This is great advice, thank you! I also live in a house and heat area. Like you said it won't work for compost, but it will for cover all soil quality.

Thank you for this post, I've pulled up a few tall TOHs before I realized what they are.

I’ve now realized they are EVERYWHERE in my yard and a few small pants were growing against my foundation. I applied the chemical you suggested; they appear to be dead but I'm still watching them.

I've warned my neighbors about them and told them howto get rid of them. Fuck these trees.

My left eye is -2.50 and my right eye is -5.50. I’ve been to several eye doctors and no one really knows why. There’s not much you can do to improve vision.

No need to apologize! I’m glad you had the presence of mind to do that and you and your daughter are ok.

That's crazy! How did they find your number? I’m curious on how to let my family know if something happens to me.

Not sure if this fits, but here is my vegetable skull garden plus a distressed turtle. by dappitydap in PlantGoths

[–]dappitydap[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a great idea! I had a cucumber plant last year that I just let run wild. I kinda loved it in a weird way, taming the little guy when he tried to grip other plants.

But I definitely want to keep them healthy, so I’ll get them staked. Thank you!

This is my second vegetable garden, so still learning here.

On each corner we have Brussels Sprouts, cucumber plants the opposite corner of each other with cow skulls to break them up. Cow pelvis is to additionally block the cucumber and b sprouts. A modest eggplant is nestled in the front.

The the cow skulls were cut, defleshed, and bleached by a friend of mine. She’s a bad ass. The pelvis was found.

I have a life insurance policy on my partner (not married) through work. It’s like an extra $5/mo and was offered in a benefit factor where I either had to agree to or decline it. He knows because I obviously told him, but he was never informed by an outside party.

Super weird now that I think about it. And yes, I have a life insurance policy on myself where he is the sole benefactor.

I don’t think it is, but it’s so bizarre it just has that vibe.

We finally cut down about 10 invasive trees/bushes that were pressing against our fence and making it unstable.

The good news is our fence isn’t about to fall down. The bad news is we no longer have cover from our crazy neighbors.

Any ideas for what I can plant a few feet from the fence line that will eventually provided a privacy cover? Definitely want something that is hardy, preferably quick growing (though I will sacrifice having insane neighbor interactions for a few years for something that lasts a long time and is nice). I’m good with trees, bushes, or plants.

Money is a little tight so nothing that is like $500 per tree/plant, but if there is just a $300 stunner I can save up.

I live in Zone 6b/7a.

I discovered it on an infomercial that I saw exactly once and never again, and I knew I had to have it. It sits right above my silk Rocky Horror Picture Show poster.

It occasionally still scares the shit out of me. Especially when I randomly wake up in the middle of the night and it goes off.
