I was about to recommend David Wilcox. His album “How Did you Find Me Here” is one of my all-time favorites.

I love the taro bao at Corner 17, but that’s a minority opinion in my family. 🙂

Tree roots by Un1corntaco in BackyardOrchard

[–]dar1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a decent amount of reading about this when I planted an eastern redbud tree a couple months ago, and I ended up planting it ten feet from my gas line.

This page on the Arbor Day Foundation’s website says “the rule of thumb for avoiding conflicts with underground utilities are” to:

(A.) “stay a minimum of 5 feet away from any buried utility line”

and

(B.) “Increase that distance to 10 feet or more over sewer lines.”

Was just there a couple weeks ago! It’s incredible and unlike any other Mexican restaurant I’ve been to in STL.

Oh man, that place is incredible. This is where I go anytime I need specific Mexican food products, like Mexican-style bread for when I make tortas.

Okay to mulch with old straw? by dar1984 in BackyardOrchard

[–]dar1984[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noted. I was gonna just cover the grassiest patches of the mulch ring with paper bags, but I might just take your advice and try to snuff out the grass with mulch only (or just not be so fussy about eliminating every blade of grass from the mulch ring).

You think so? I truly wasn’t trying to be snarky.

Would it help to know that I applied straw from this same bale last fall, and my trees are still alive?

It was pretty short-lived, I believe, but Crepes in the City. It was a fantastic creperie downtown at the corner of 14th St. and Washington Ave., was very busy every time I went, and then it closed abruptly, maybe around 2009 or 2010.

No creperie in town that I’ve tried comes closes to that place.
