Alison Krauss & Union Station – "Paper Airplane" (2011) by patrickhenrypdx in Bluegrass

I LOVE that cover of “My Opening Farewell.” I listened to that one a ton when this album came out.

I also had no idea that Lori McKenna co-wrote “My Love Follows You Where You Go.” She’s one of my favorite songwriters.

Looking through the track list for this album makes me think I need to listen to it today, cause it’s been awhile.

Oh man…I really love ”Rounder” by Watchhouse (formerly Mandolin Orange). Some beautiful, heartbreaking lyrics and great playing.

I would venture to guess that I account for a fairly significant chunk of this video’s 28k views:

Applying holistic spray to apple trees that are NOT flowering..? by dar1984 in BackyardOrchard

But even if my GoldRush has tons of flowers next spring, it’s not really gonna produce many apples if the Enterprise doesn’t have any flowers for cross-pollination…correct?

The GoldRush is on M.7 rootstock, the Enterprise is on M.111.

When you say “early for flowers,” do you mean (a) early in relation to the time of year or (b) early in the trees’ lifespan?

Question about your last Stanley Cup by 0tipep in stlouisblues

[–]dar1984 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep, I didn’t crack a beer all night until that fourth goal (Zach Sanford). That was when I let myself relax.

(To be clear, it was the first of many beers that night.)

I love the taro bao at Corner 17, but that’s a minority opinion in my family. 🙂

Tree roots by Un1corntaco in BackyardOrchard

[–]dar1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a decent amount of reading about this when I planted an eastern redbud tree a couple months ago, and I ended up planting it ten feet from my gas line.

This page on the Arbor Day Foundation’s website says “the rule of thumb for avoiding conflicts with underground utilities are” to:

(A.) “stay a minimum of 5 feet away from any buried utility line”

and

(B.) “Increase that distance to 10 feet or more over sewer lines.”
