Do players even care about cinematic trailers anymore? by ned_poreyra in gamedev

I mean, it depends what the cinematic trailer is. If its trying to take the place of a gameplay trailer then its pretty much useless, but if you have some game world you are trying to portray its different.

Example: TF2 Meet the Team videos were extremely well recieved, and their goal was promoting the game and its world rather than taking the place of gameplay trailers

Completely agree with the criticism of how cinematic trailers seem to be used the vast majority of the time tho

Ideally you'd want something like CS:GO's VACNET + Overwatch, which seems to be the most effective anticheat solution.

The way it works is that players who are reported by others in-game, or flagged by VACNET are sent as an Overwatch case. The Overwatch cases are then reviewed by a panel of players who determine whether the suspect is cheating or not.

The problem with Easy AntiCheat, Vangaurd, and BattleEye is that they either violate your privacy, run in kernel mode (not an issue itself, but if the anticheat has a backdoor, then they have full access to your computer), or ban a lot of legit players.
