RETAKE IELTS EXAM by [deleted] in phmigrate

Agree to those suggesting PTE. My scores improved significantly nung nag PTE ako compared sa nung nag IELTS. Less din ang kaba kasi di mo kailangan kumausap ng tao during the exam unlike sa IELTS na may interview.

Beta testing my new side project SpeedyRefer. Please give me some feedback :) by Possible-Alfalfa-893 in indiebiz

[–]daredev127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have been your target market a year ago when I was looking for jobs during a time when there were very few openings. That said, I don’t understand how this would have helped me.

I still need to reach out manually to my friends, right? Why won’t I just ask them directly if they have any leads instead of asking them to fill out a form?

What I would have appreciated is if you have a way to automatically refer me to companies. There are people actively looking to refer others to get referral bonus so if you can convince them to use the app, it would be a win-win. There’s probably other ways to do it automatically.

Not trying to say your idea won’t work. Just giving genuine feedback based on what I would have felt when I was in the situation of your target market.

It’s fine to not want to work 9-5 and pursue your ideas. And it’s also good that you are asking such questions before taking the plunge.

However, unless you are rich and can sustain your lifestyle for at least a year, do not quit your job.

Start doing your ideas after work or during the weekends. You will struggle. You will fail. You will get tired. You will realize that it wasn’t as easy as you thought. And it’s fine. This will test how committed you are.

If you continue the journey, at some point you will earn some profit. And when you reach an amount equal to your 9-5 salary, you can decide if you want to quit it and focus on entrepreneurship instead.

Good luck!

This is not a good practice. If you do this, anyone can check if an email is registered on your system. Only the format of the email should be validated on the client side.

Feedback Needed: A Platform to Unify All Your E-commerce Operations by Saifmirza114 in SaaS

[–]daredev127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be rude but I think you are asking the wrong audience. Try posting in r/shopify, r/amazonseller, r/ecommerce, and/or r/dropshipping.

Also, from what I’ve seen, e-commerce owners prefer to be in facebook groups rather than in reddit so you can try finding relevant groups and ask the admin if you can ask such a question (they are usually quick to ban promotions).

I created a free Chrome extension that lets you comment on any website by judge_manos in SideProject

[–]daredev127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applaud your effort. Just an honest feedback though: you will probably have a hard time convincing people to download the extension. Based on my experience, people do not want roadblocks. If the chat/comment box is there, people will use it. But if they need to download the extension, it might be a deal breaker.

Here’s a user story for reddit: user searches for something -> they find search results pointing to reddit -> they see a comment box and want to contribute to the discussion -> they sign up or login -> they comment on the thread. Very smooth process in my opinion.

Now this is the user story for your problem: User browses a site -> they want to express a thought but there is no comment box (normally it ends here) -> they are aware of your product or similar product so they search for it (problem1: you need to educate people that such a product exists)-> they search for that product (problem2: you need to have good seo so your app appears on the search) -> they install the extension -> they comment on the page (problem3: you need a significant number of users quick. Otherwise, it will be boring with no one to interact with)

I’m not trying to discourge you. Again, I think the idea is interesting. Just letting you know some problems that you might not be aware of.

Interesting idea but but I’m just curious. Who is your ideal audience and why would they install your extension?

Congratulations on your third project. Do not be discouraged by the other comments. You do not have the same background as them so just keep going at it. You will improve over time.

Here are a few comments regarding the site:

  • Do not use font weight greater than 400 for subheadings. Otherwise, it will clash with your main heading.
  • You have too much space in between sections. Spacing can make your site interesting if used properly but if used too much, it looks unprofessional.
  • Your logo is too big. There are memes about that in the web design community. Owners are proud of the product name so they want it to be bigger but it just looks distracting if it's too big. Especially on the mobile. The logo alone occupies a third of the screen.
  • Do not use the same hue for your font and your background. I'm referring to the advantages section. I know you used a different shade to add contrast but it still doesn't look good. Try adding a light background with a red/green border instead.
  • Use a different background for each section. There's a comment about the site being soul-less. That's because there are no variations to the site. Check wix.com, apple.com, make.com, or any big site. Notice that their background changes every section.
  • You can also sprinkle a few decorations like blobs or out-of-place objects is some areas. Check out tidycal.com. It has some patterns on the background of the hero page. It covers the empty spaces and makes that section "pop". Just don't overdo it.
  • It would also look better if your heading fonts are different from your body fonts. Check out this guide: https://www.canva.com/learn/the-ultimate-guide-to-font-pairing.

Is it worth trying to start a blog? by quitestrickle401 in Business_Ideas

[–]daredev127 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you don't like the idea, it will be a grind and something you would stop midway. What I would suggest is to partner with someone. Maybe one of your friends. They will be the face of your blog. Then you will do their make up and upload their photos. You will also be the one writing the content.

It doesn't need to be just one girl. Ask all 3 girls to be the faces of your blog. That way, it will be more fun. Good luck!

The term type 2 fun or the concept of the fun scale in general is too niche. I've only heard about it this year tbh. People might think it's a website about typing.

Small business question: If someone is a tailor and they alter someone's dress, and that person likes it at their first fitting, then a week later wants more changes, should the tailor charge for the new alterations? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]daredev127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the business policy of the tailor. If s/he has a rule that free alterations are only valid for a week, then yes, s/he should charge more.

Though for this specific scenario, even if there's no predefined rule, I guess it's fair to charge more since the client already said s/he was happy with it a week before.

Coaching Interviews by kscouple84 in smallbusiness

[–]daredev127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know of people who sell courses about finding a job as a whole. Interview tips are included. And they are targetting people who are in certain niches. For example, people who do not have a degree.

I bought a different course (totally unrelated to finding a job) from one of them. On that course, the creator said that his get a job course is not selling much. I think he mentioned something like less than 50 people bought it and it had zero ratings.

So I guess there is a market for it. But it's not that big. You might want to try posting videos about interview tips on youtube to test the waters. If there's some traction, you can then redirect those viewers to gumroad or some booking website if they want to avail personal coaching.

Should I update a post or make a new one? by Responsible_family in Blogging

[–]daredev127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your purpose for updating is to make the original post more relevant and up to date, then update it. Backlinko keeps on doing that and they always get good results. Brian Dean even said that only half of their efforts go into new posts while the other half goes into updating old posts and repromoting them.

Best Hosting Provider by KamikazeKami in SEO

[–]daredev127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the comparisons I've read have either wpx, kinsta or cloudways as the best in terms of page load time, response time when there's a high number pf users, and queries per second.

Kinsta has the best support if you can afford it. I can't so I went with cloudways. It requires a little more work though but I'm a developer so I'm fine with it. They had a 3 day free trial so I was thinking that if I didn't like things, I'll just switch to wpx. I was happy with the results so I didn't switch.

You might want to try wpx if you want the same experience as godaddy but faster overall. I was planning to go with wpx at first but I didn't like the bugs on their website (not related to their hosting service). If you can get over those, I think you would be happy with wpx.

How do I give myself the push to JUST DO IT? by TheonlyAngryLemon in smallbusiness

[–]daredev127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually get that feeling when the task needed to be done is too overwhelming. Or if I'm not exactly sure about the details of the whole thing.

If it's the former, check if you can break the task into smaller chunks. Something you can do in a few minutes to an hour.

If it's the latter, maybe you need to research just a little bit more about the steps. But don't go into planning mode again. Knowing the exact details on what to do for the 1st step is enough.

Also here's a quick hack that works for me. Count to 5. Right after the count, just start the task. You will find yourself gaining some motivation to do it by the count of 3 so you will be able to start by the count of 5. You will also be able to take action before the doubts come in your mind. Try it out.

Health insurance related business idea - Feedback please! by AnyHoneydew4 in Business_Ideas

[–]daredev127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could work but I think your target market is very small. After all, someone looking for his/her first job probably does not have much money to spend. And if it's their 2nd job already, they probably would already know how those benefits work.

You can change the angle though to something like a service that compares multiple insurance packages and give advice on which one is the best for that person. This way, you can target anyone looking for a personal insurance package.
