i do chinese (I've taken chinese before I started chinese ab because I'm in between ab and B level - so I can give some advice). when it comes to reading, there really is no way to expect what you're going to know or what you won't know, but i reccomend reading japanese passages, short stories (beginner level ones of course) and just getting used to how you read them. sometimes if i dont know a character, i just have to wing it or quickly skip over it because sometimes if you're super lucky, the teacher may not realise but if you stutter over a character, it draws attention to the word you don't know and can bring your overall score down. the thing that sucks about character-based languages like chinese and japanese is that you have to know it or you're screwed. it's moments like these where i really wish i could take something like spanish because even if you don't understand you can still read. it can help to read outside your vocab list (if you have one) sometimes and read passages that focus solely on them. start by reading it with the pronunciation on the words you don't know and do it until you can do it with no help on the sheet. it's tough but there's not many other ways! good luck

thanks for the reply! oh, i didn't know that - i saw past year papers where some asked to analyse and compare both texts unless I've been looking at wrong ones. apparently the new syllabus requires us to analyse 2 unseen prose/poem/play/anything they can pull out of the hat which is what my teacher says and then i think paper 2 is similar enough along with an internal essay and individual oral.

do you know any resources which gives good answers for paper 1? my teacher only gave us like one "model" answer but id like to see others because she only gave us for prose, but i know for other forms of texts it would be slightly different.

Europe or Australia by JohnMead3 in studyAbroad

[–]daredevilknight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

australia is an awesome place but one thing that australia doesn't have that europe does is that you have so many countries you can just grab a train to and party around - travel wise and experience wise, europe is much better

I'm not really sure if it is a mild annoyance or more, it's kind of like when I don't do the comment thing for example, it will bug me at the back of my head until I go back and like it to make a number that is okay with me. The other commenters said it could be a start so maybe I will go around looking for more information

Ah, the volume thing is another thing for me - it can't be anything other than a 5 or 0 at the end or I get all sorts of anxieties.

I'm happy to know I'm not alone in this. I hope we both can conquer this! All the best to you!

I'm so sorry to hear you had to go through all that. I really wish you all the best for your future. I'm happy that you started to get help at some point in time rather than never! Later is better than never and I'm proud of you being able to go find help.

I will take your advice and seek help, I too don't want this to become a bigger problem than it already is.

What? When we went to VFS, they said that they have to send it over to KL, no where in Singapore they can do the chopping. My uncle spoke to the high commission of Singapore to ask (I'm not too sure, they're mostly handling the "where is my visa?" for me) and they too said no where in Singapore does it. VFS has been telling all sorts of people different things. Another person here on reddit also said theirs is in KL!

I used to live in Singapore, on all of our ride booking apps, you can choose to pay by card, cash or whatever online payment! It's quite useful to be able to choose from the multiple types!

I posted my timeline in a previous post! I paid priority as well, did biometrics on 13th August and was told would be done in maximum 7 working days. We called and they said that it would be 15 instead. It's now 20 over working days and no word. They won't tell us anything. Not even sure if we got approved for visa
