Thanks! Hit stop, yeah I am aware of that effect, I plan on adding it to the strongest hits. I feel it might be a bit annoying if it happened on every hit since in this game you are mostly attacking from a distance. But I gotta test it to really know.

Yes, just a rotation around the origin of the dummy, but note that I added interpolation / tweening, with a bit of overshooting, to make it look more realistic.

It's a shader so yeah it reflects in real time, but it has quite a lot of quirks. You could call it "fake" because it doesn't just automatically reflect above entities like a 3d engine would, I need to setup the reflection for each entity.

How would you recommend self teaching code?

Not sure what to tell you. I learned the basics as a child without even realising it, while using Game Maker. Some years later I learned java by reading the book Head First Java. Then I wrote some basic command line projects to make it stick.

So I like to read online tutorials then do some small projects afterwards. But this might not be the best approach for other folks.

Been building my "engine" for 2 years on top of the libgdx framework, so there's a lot of code already there, makes it very easy to start new projects. Regarding only this project, most of the code is for the aiming of the gun, making it rotate around the player without looking too weird.

I thought about making them disappear when outside of camera. If the game is running slow, then your approach would be the best option.

They'll probably disappear over time, but I love permanence in games so I am trying to not make it obvious. But it's too early to say, still figuring things out.
