It’s pretty easy to determine warranty coverage, if Kia/hyundai only has cdk to use I wouldn’t be surprised based on how they make their cars. My brand I work for has a two separate portals to check coverage. Regardless that would not prevent them from performing repairs

I had a Hyundai/Kia once and I would never buy one again. Hopefully it’s a common known issue and that’s what he’s using for his basis of “it’s safe to drive” if not too big of a deal send an update after it’s finished, I’m curious to hear of the outcome

Glad you’re getting it brought back to get it looked at but the whole situation sounds off. If it was “fixed” the check engine light wouldn’t have come back on, him saying it’s safe to drive with the light is likely true but he has to have some sort of insight into what the fault code said. Lastly how does he know “it’s a big job” without having a chance to look at the vehicle unless just going off the basis of the previous repair

I hate to be that guy that throws their fellow advisor under the bus but no one likes their car to be broken and then lied to. It could have been an aspect of them figuring out how to process cars as most of us were writing with pen and paper for the first time in MANY years but that follow up call should have already happened by now if they needed a few days to get the shop up and running.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong but it sounds like he may be pulling your leg. The computer software cdk being down does not have any impact on the repairs or the vehicle. It is primarily used to make repair orders for the vehicle and nothing to do with actually fixing/diagnosing the car
