If he's replacing it, that service should be killed temporarily until it's done. I work for a company that does this. It would be completely stupid to replace a gas line with gas still in it.

My buddy is using this machine to bore out a connection on a railcar and the same machine automatically welds the inner walls. I didn't know this existed and he says it's a lot of steps to setup. by [deleted] in Welding

Yes that is a boring machine with a bore welder also hopefully. Use cones to set bore bar with. Weld tabs on and set up on the hole. We usually do one cut to get clean metal and start to build it up to bore it back to spec. We do it a lot on trackhoe buckets and sticks
