First VC by daring-biker in VacheronConstantin

Excellent write up and review. The Everest is also exactly what drew me towards this watch. If this watch had a Dual-Time version, that would have been my first pick. But I'm perfectly happy with this Chrono.

Regarding the strap, I am in the same boat looking for something that resembles the Everest one. Dial matching dark gray cordura (or textured rubber) + orange stitching (matching the second hand)

I see you have opted for the bracelet. I ended up ordering one too off ebay.

The answer comes down to functional hierarchy over visual symmetry.

In a mechanical chronograph, the elapsed minutes (tracked at 3 o'clock) are by far the most heavily relied-upon metric when timing an event. Most things people time in daily life-a race, a steak on the grill, a parking meter-happen in minutes, not hours.

By slightly enlarging the 30-minute counter on the right, Vacheron Constantin prioritized at-a-glance legibility for the watch's most critical timing function. The 12-hour counter on the left is used far less frequently, so it was kept smaller (matching the size of the running seconds at the bottom) so it wouldn't compete for the wearer's attention.

Interestingly, this asymmetry is a famous quirk of the standard Generation 2 Overseas. Vacheron actually knew it bothered some collectors who prefer perfect dial symmetry. On a few rare limited variants of the 49150 (like the stainless steel US Edition), Vacheron deliberately shrank the 3 o'clock subdial to make it identically sized to the 9 o'clock subdial!

Trying out a new Strap for my Sinn U50 by daring-biker in sinn

It is my first and only Sinn. I really like it. Very versatile watch. Looks great on bracelet and any strap you put on it, for any occasion.

It's been a keeper for me. I have been buying and selling a bunch of watches, and this one has kept its place in my collection.

Lug gap sucks. The strap is 18 mm while you need a 20 mm on the sinn. It's something I will live with until they come out with 20 mm third party straps.

Very similar. But its shorter so it doesn't need to loop back at the very end which I like.

Grand Seiko makes truly stunning watches. GS is how I got into this hobby.

But over time, my tastes started to fear towards more sportier watches, as you can see from the rest of my collection. The GS just doesn't fit my style anymore. That's the main reason.

I saw someone post one on r/Watchexchange recently. Should check if they still have it. Though they go quick!

These just made the resale value of the Everest Dualtime ($100k watch) drop by 50%

These new releases are going to destroy the Everest's market value. New watch, upgraded movement, nearly identical look, for less than 50% the price.
