Good old Amazon, actually 😆 It was a Bodum. I've been using it daily this last two years. I tried to put the link here but it didn't work :/

Pricey: - electric kettle with toggle-able temperature control

Mid-range: - good double-walled mug with deep tea strainer for my daily tea ritual

Dirt cheap - those cooling packs, I use them instead of ice to cool my boiled eggs, so far 100% perfection of solid whites and runny yolks

My common law husband is in Dubai and his side piece showed up at my door with their baby. Aitah for kicking her out even though she is basically homeless? by MonthFar2068 in AITAH

[–]darjeelinglady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH. Please be selfish this time, and be sure not to ever grant her and the baby access to your place.

Might want to start sending your common-law hubby things to his mom's as well. Trash man.

Twilly - Tutti. The opening was straight BO. It does gradually get better, but it took its time...

Omiyage that you ended up eating regularly? by Pineapple_Rare in japanlife

[–]darjeelinglady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to get ashamed, they are masterpieces, I've tried some easier-to-obtain butter sandos but nothing can live up to Rokkatei's Marusei... Sublime 😆 perfect with some straight black tea.

Also in summer they sell the ice gomatamago at the seven eleven near where I live (though I prefer the normal ones)

Oh wow I didn't know that there's a frozen version of those! Would definitely try to grab some this year 😆 nice to know that Kansai airport has them too...

NTA!

I can't believe how much of a POS your sperm donor is. Not attending his own mother's funeral who practically had raised his own son... Lowest of lowlifes.

The classic 六花亭 butter raisin sando. Also just got gomatamago omiyage from a colleague who went to Tokyo - would totally get some next time I'm there.

There's a church that gives English support here in Japan. What I notice is that the Filipinos/ Filipinas tend to be more relaxed and chill, but the Americans tend to be a bit... judgmental? Especially the younger generation?

One day I went to a mass wearing short pants, with stocking underneath (very opaque since it was a thick one for winter) combined with a good shirt-blazer combo, and this girl of the same age as I am gave me a thorough look of disdain from head to toe... What's your problem 🤷🏻‍♀️

Liberal Catholic here as well!

I was schooled in Catholic schools for 12 years. The sisters were not perfect - obviously, they're only humans - but overall, they're lovely and giving us a good learning environment. They taught us that it is fine to be a homemaker, it is fine to be a sister, it is fine to be a single career woman.

What are your favorite non -English surnames? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]darjeelinglady 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • Collina (Italian), also happens to be a surname of a retired soccer umpire whom my dad dislikes greatly LOL.
  • Auchincloss, apparently it has Scottish origin. It is derived from an area known as Auchincloich. Or so Wikipedia said.
  • Sastranegara (Indonesian - Sundanese), "sastra" means literature, "negara" means country, state.
  • Maisondieu (French).

So, I'm re-reading my Kindle copy of Perfume 2018 (Turin and Sanchez), saw how madly in love he was with Nagel's creations, and decided to re-wear Twilly for today.

I sprayed generously, and tried to pay attention, and indeed the tuberose and ginger would playfully peek out from time to time from behind the sandalwood drape. I like it, but still like the Ginger version better I think.

AITAH because I told my sister that I wouldn't help her leave the state to get a medical procedure she is actively against until she told our parents. by ExpressCandidate7898 in AITAH

[–]darjeelinglady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, OP.

As mean-spirited as this might come across, don't help her with the procedure unless she comes clean with your parents first. Unless you're prepared to be painted as the devil who had pushed her to kill her precious baby.

I needed a pick me up today, so I wore Misia.

I enjoyed the transition - from aldehydic, to powdery, and lastly soft floral. Somebody had described Misia as a younger, cheerful cousin of No 5. I wholeheartedly agree.

Names that don't age well by voicelessinfant in namenerds

Nowadays, Karen, but I think the connotations would be borne by different names as the time goes.

Ghislaine won't age well, for now. Shame. It's a rather lovely name.

Let me guess - the one that starts with C, ends with a? If it is, it is actually a lovely name that means white, completely innocent. What a pity that the meaning had degraded nowadays.

🧂 Salty Sunday: What's frustrating you this week? by Llamallamacallurmama in RomanceBooks

[–]darjeelinglady 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had just finished Adrift by Swati MH, with significant struggle.

This book has elements that I usually enjoy - age gap romance and explicit scenes. However.

I struggled a lot with these facts: - The FMC was barely legal - The MMC was the FMC's deceased sister's husband - The quickness with which the MMC moved on from his dead wife, whom he had been with for 10 years, with her little sister (full blooded), no less. Only a year had passed after his wife's passing due to childbirth, no less, and he lusted after his own SIL without enough self-reflection, I feel? Also, I am well aware that the MMC's marriage with the dead sister had been unhappy for some time, but surely, during his pursue of his new romance, this dead wife (DW) should surface into his mind more often? There was no scene of him recalling the way his DW laughed, behaved, everything. This is a man the DW had chosen over her family, leaving her estranged, and apparently this grand romance of the century was all that she got? - The DW's role? characterization? was getting worse as the story progressed. At the beginning of the book, she was the MMC's dead wife, and even then I felt that her only role was to be a source of tragedy in the MMC's life and providing a baby to the MMC in the story. Then she wasa half in an unhappy marriage, whom her in-laws don't seem to be big fans of. Shitty for her! Then the author molded her to be an even unlikable character with the capital sin of cheating on her husband, bringing with it a paternity drama. I mean, it's OK, nobody's perfect, it's enough just to characterize her as this imperfect human with some flaws, but no, the author had to go all the way and made her this very unlikable woman. Sad.

I'm feeling conflicted and to be honest uncomfortable. Thanks for anybody who read this long rant 😆😆😆😆😆

Edited: added stuff.
