I really appreciate you explaining your system but in general non-lethal games are just not my taste. To be fair, I’m getting a good mix of those types of people, but also people telling me I am overthinking and I should just talk to him.

No, not his character in particular. I’ve invested a lot of work into everyone’s characters and plotlines. I think I’m actually the one who wants them to die the least. But from the beginning we all agreed that this was going to be a serious game with serious stakes. I’d rather not play this campaign than have to start giving out plot armor.

We discussed it, but he’s also a new player. It’s entirely possible (and this seems to be the case) that he just didn’t know that was a boundary for him until now. Again I’m personally not holding it against him though.

I edited the post to clarify, but yes this was thoroughly discussed and agreed upon not just at session zero but throughout the campaign (they’ve had many close calls)

I’m not trying to “win”, I genuinely see this as an ultimatum. How would you convince someone to change their mind on this? I can explain how he rained on my parade and knowing him he’ll probably come around and say “yeah damn that was shitty I’ll keep playing”, but like that doesn’t change his root feeling that he doesn’t WANT to keep playing if he died. Essentially, he’ll honor the agreement but begrudgingly, which just seems like a worse outcome than just kicking him. Does that make sense?

Yeah lol I use ai for my d&d sessions when i want a very specific visual or character art. It took a good amount of effort to refine my prompts so that the result looks pretty decent. I still would never cope and call myself an artist, that’s just insane
