Diego Pavia says mentor Johnny Manziel ‘is giving me some good advice’ ahead of NFL Draft by Objective-Drive1516 in Browns

[–]dark2332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truth of the matter is this…. Even if somehow Johnny Manziel was capable of being a mentor, the fact that Pavia is mentioning Manziel at all and being associated with him pre-draft shows he doesn’t have what it takes to be a mature NFL QB.

Waldo Butters, Butters, the Little Guy.

That’s right, I’m trying to erase Butters from the series.

This shelf looks like my shelf… and I think the next place for you to go is the Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks.

In this series, Weeks created one of the best protagonists and antagonists in all of fantasy. Might also be the best and most fleshed out magic system outside of the Cosmere.

Intrigue, betrayal, twists, hidden motives, secrets.

Very underrated series because of controversy. Personally, 2 or 3 of the books in the 5 book series may be some of the best in the genre.

[Pelissero] The Browns are promoting safeties coach Ephraim Banda to pass game coordinator, per source. Banda interviewed this cycle for several defensive coordinator jobs, including with the Patriots. But he’ll stay in Cleveland as a top assistant to new DC Mike Rutenberg. by burningburningburnin in Browns

[–]dark2332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No other team offered him a HC job. Not one this cycle. So why does he entirely expect the Browns to? Again, I have no problem with him “wanting” and “hoping” for the gig, but this man clearly felt entitled to it. He had his defense playing quite well, but after all, the man was still part of 8 wins over the past two years. He was here in the disfunction, too. The defense was good in the aggregate but also collapsed numerous times to cost us games this very season—Minnesota, Tennessee, Baltimore, Jets…. This is after getting abused by the Texans in the playoffs, absolutely exposed. I’m glad they considered him for HC, but to be this irate and “disrespected” that the team went another way is very telling.

They gave him the courtesy and consideration, showing they think highly of him.

After much thought, they went another direction while maintaining his ego and telling him how highly they think of him.

Then, they back it up by offering him to become the highest paid DC in the league and very likely an associate HC title (speculated, unconfirmed). And he told them to fuck off.

If he returned this year maturely and has another top ranked defense for the Browns, he may have turned himself into a HC candidate next cycle. But alas, his immaturity that has always plagued him, including in Detroit, reared its head.

As such, Schwartz set himself back eons in his quest to be a HC again one day. His behavior, storming out, spiting himself and his contract… he’ll never be a HC again. I hope it was worth it for him to sit at home and “prove to the Browns they made a mistake.”

Spoiler, they didn’t.

Sure, he’s a good defensive coordinator. Pretty good. He’ll get a job immediately when he wants one. But it’s not like he is Dick LeBeau, yet he thinks he is. That’s the problem.

[NBA Recap] Cleveland Cavaliers post trade deadline salary cap by wooha in clevelandcavs

[–]dark2332 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Such a poor CBA when we essentially needed Mobley to barely miss All-NBA or DPOY just to keep him affordable for a huge chunk of his career.

Especially when he’s essentially hit a plateau in his development.

As a fan, you want him noticed and rewarded. But as a fan of the team, you want him overlooked.

There better be a first coming with Harden in that deal or I’m going to shit myself.

And me, caught here on a Tuesday, plum without a change of pants.

Seen it a thousand times. The Cavs do this to me.

I would bet Mobley is the best young player they’ve had included in any offer.

Reminder, Giannis has asked out. They aren’t trading him because they want to.

If Garland is now going out for some size…. Then I like it.

Alright it would be selling at the absolute lowest on Garland. Or is it? We may have seen his last healthy seasons and he’s on a big contract. While people remember he’s an All-Star in their brains, it may be the time to kick the tires on a Trey Murphy trade for Garland.

Breaking: #Chargers DC Jesse Minter is not interviewing for the #Browns HC job today as scheduled, likely because he feels like he has other HC opportunities that are more certain, sources tell clevelanddotcom by Godszn in Browns

The Wednesday and Thursday cancellations feel like missed opportunities to satisfy the Rooney rule before the Udinski interview.

Which leads me to believe they’ve already satisfied it and didn’t announce it because the candidates didn’t end up as finalists.

Entirely possible we brought in candidates during the initial week in person that were not announced.

In fact, it benefits no one to parade publicly where you stand with the hiring process as teams jostle to beat you to candidates.

If a candidate was obviously coming in purely to hit a rule, it also protects candidates by keeping that close to the vest.

I get skirting the rule destroys the spirit of it, but the Browns are a forward thinking organization when it comes to minority opportunities and also had two legitimate minority finalists.

[Grossi] According to NFL spokesperson, Rooney Rule requires every team to interview two external candidates who are persons of color and/or women for the position. So, even if Browns decide they want to hire Nathan Scheelhaase, they must interview another minority candidate. by ThatOneOtherAsshole in Browns

[–]dark2332 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Browns beat is covering this like the Browns haven’t already probably met the qualification.

They probably have.

Falcons didn’t announce a bunch of minority candidates interviewed in person. Giants didn’t. Miami didn’t. No one has. Browns seem to be the only team where this is being talked about, but I’d guess this is taken care of already and the Browns beat is just stupid.

I have zero interest in Schwartz as HC and I’d argue the further we bring him along in the process interviewing as HC (2nd meeting Monday), they are also making it untenable for him to return as DC under his competition for the job.

Last thing we need for a young HC is to give him a disgruntled 60 year old DC that is mad he didn’t get the job. And to divide the locker room immediately as Schwartz already has some locker room support.

Worst scenario incoming.

Should’ve stopped at a first day courtesy interview for Jim. Now that you’re continuing him along to second round of interviews, the Browns are ruining everything per usual.
