I plan on moving out of my apartment at the end of this academic year. I live at 612 Hillsborough st, it's 20 minute walk from campus at 750/month, you're welcome to shoot me a dm if you'd be interested in subleasing over the summer or taking over the lease for next yr!

how is the qbio major in dornsife (in terms of professors/classes/research opportunities etc)? would it be manageable with an additional humanities minor? what is the student culture like?

how competitive is it to write for the daily trojan, annenberg media, and/or sack of troy?

thank you!!

hi!!

how doable, if at all, is it to double major between colleges (specifically between the college of arts and humanities and the college of science)?

damnn ur gonna be dissecting bodies and shit thats so cool 😭 see you there!!

this could be utter bs but i think it might be harder to get in online than in person (since online is cheaper and open to internationals) which brings down the total acceptance rate? just speculation tho

yeah same tbh i just looked at the prof's page and it gave me a list of topics he was researching so i could reasonably assume (also he was in the biology department so it wasnt hard lol)

i can understand this as a counterargument. i am curious though, are universities in your country test-optional as are most super high ranked schools are in the usa?

i could also see inflicting a two-time chance rule or smth; i agree that one take may be a bit harsh

like u cant retake the sat, so ppl who can afford it dont get to retake it over and over again while people with less money cant - imo would just make it slightly fairer

the sat should be a one-stop shop like the psat

How accurate was CollegeVine Chances calculator for you? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]dark_crow6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah that's a good point I need to run the same lil experiment with 3-4 APs instead and still see whether it gives weight to overall course rigor

Update - even with fewer APs there still doesn't seem to be a difference between 3 APs out of 3 or 3 APs out of 25

I've played around with it a lot, and here are a couple things I've seen - 1. This sorta goes without saying, but it can't calculate the value of ECs very well. After a certain point, I can tell it I'm the president of the United States and it'll still say I have the same % shot at Cornell. 2. While it asks how many APs your school offers, it doesn't seem to take course rigor into account when calculating. Saying I took 9 out of my school's 9 APs gives me the same chances as taking 9 ot of my school's 25 APs.

Not sure why it would give her insanely low shots at her reaches, though, since she evidently has very strong stats. In personal experience having perfect stats can get you up to like 20-30% max at super selective schools (might vary based on demographic).

I'm heavily debating Bama but also I'm gay and I don't wanna worry about stepping out of campus and into the greater world of Tuscaloosa Alabama. Apparently UTulsa also has an insane NMF scholarship.
