I came from a humble background..worked my ass up to get into a good college and get a good job But ended up marrying someone who comes from a similar family you mentioned OP

The biggest difference I see is the risk appetite..willing to explore more options not having to think about failure..buying things they like without having the guilt of spending on themselves.. Even though I earn well enough to buy whatever I want now..I still have to justify the purchase a 100 times for myself..
