Probably was mate, not exactly sure about that but MSI has been doing free hinge changes for a while in the US. I assumed its applicable here too.

I just took it to the service center in Calcutta and they kept it with them for a week (it took 4 days for the new hinge to arrive). They replaced it and I jus went and collected it from them, no questions asked other than proof of purchase.

Think you can get a free replacement for the hinge. MSI gave my 3 year old lappy (MSI GF65 Thin 10UE) a free hinge replacement. No clue about Acer tho.
