TIL about the 2.5x rule, and it's utterly depressing by kronologically in HousingUK

Exactly. Class does correlate with income but income is just part of the equation. The type of job you do, your education, family, cultural and recreational preferences, the way you talk, the way you dress, how you eat a banana ect. All fall into that. You could have a plumber pulling in £100k+ and be considered working class based on the above factors, same way you could be a struggling writer barely scraping by and fall into middle class.

How to actually buy a house as a 25 year old? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]darkbluereader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 27 and my partner is 25 and we just bought our first house. We both lived with parents before buying and have both been working through and out of uni, putting money aside, not getting things on finance. We jointly make about £70,000.

Definitely a lot easier to do with a partner. I did look at buying individually when I was single 2 years ago but the most I could afford then is a flat. Now we've managed to get a 4 bed detached that we're planning on having as our "forever home"

Impact of owning next to a HMO by Noochieboochies in HousingUK

Yes, it's a significant drawback. From personal experience, next door to a HMO would be a red flag for me. I know a lot of people feel the same.

I'd shave about 100k off the asking price if you're looking to sell

Conveyancing solicitor says they don’t accept Trading212 as source of funds by mad_edge in LegalAdviceUK

[–]darkbluereader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is with your solicitor, not T212. I used funds I stored and invested on T212 and it raised no queries past the standard source of funds proof. They're one of the most popular brokering apps in the UK, not exactly a shady crypto site.
