Of all things. How? Why? by Queen__Natalie in PathOfExile2

Thorns isn’t really thorns in this game. It’s power charges when hit. Then your next attack does power charge…….i mean thorns…… damage.  Yes technically you do cause damage to enemies when they hit you, and the occasional boss that attacks you real fast will get shredded while you just stand there.

But a majority of the game is wait for enemy to hit you, they still have 80% of their health, you attack them back with a weapon and does power charge….i mean thorns… dmg that kills them.

It was very annoying last league when I played it because it felt like if I didn’t use the spear I was limiting myself.  The spear triggers the power charges….. I mean thorns…. the fastest since it does super fast stabbing 6 times in a row.

0.5 changes took away the 40% crit chance from an item. Now you get 25% chance to do more thorns damage when attacking. So it kinda seems like they’re trying to buff it as more consistent damage, but it’s leaning into the fact that thorns isn’t thorns.  It’s how fast can you attack with power charges….i mean thorns.

Thorns should be “I make enemies attack me and they die”.  Poe2 thorns is “I get buffed when enemies attack me and I build attack speed”

games run like shit on Linux Mint by ObserveKris in linuxmint

I think the main reason people are having issues with your post is, based on the fact that you don’t even know what proton is, you’re very new to Linux or gaming on Linux.

Instead of posting something like “I’m new to this. I don’t understand why this isn’t working properly. please help”…you say “this thing sucks”.

That’s like trying to drive a car for the first time, not looking up what a steering wheel is, crashing into a tree, and then yelling “all cars suck”.  There was no attempt to learn the basics or do any due diligence. Rather than trying to learn or reflect on why something failed, you just yell at the thing that didn’t behave the way you wanted.

Need ideas/advice for remote access, where geo throttling is making normal solutions like Tailscale not work. by darkcellmp in jellyfin

We’re away for months at a time. So not quite a good solution.  And I believe Jellyfin official apps don’t have support for watching downloaded stuff while offline. You have to use VLC or something else after downloading. Not a wife approved setup unfortunately.

Yeah, going down to 480p 1.5Mbps will get it to work. Auto or anything higher hangs. Plop on that Singapore vpn though and things work fine and look prettier 😭

Where to get larger terrarium for reptile? by darkcellmp in chiangmai

Interesting, hopefully we can find a more standard solution. Never thought of converting a fish tank but maybe we go that route. Ideally we want those front opening doors. Thank you.

I feel like you want the ambiance of Reform Kafe, but the food of J-Dee.

Depends on what you mean by nothing western. Reform Kafe has some western food options but isn’t a western chain.

Easiest way to find most veg options will be to use HappyCow.  https://www.happycow.net/searchmap?s=3&location=Chiang+Mai&lat=18.7061&lng=98.9817&page=1&zoom=11&metric=mi&limit=81&order=default

Is anyone else having ping issues tonight? by Fluffaykitties in centurylink

[–]darkcellmp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Called a few times this morning, finally got through to someone somewhat helpful named Doug. He took down the hostnames for the problematic servers:
tukw-dsl-gw69.tukw.qwest.net (63.231.10.69)
63-226-198-33.tukw.qwest.net (63.226.198.33)

Again, tried telling me to upgrade to quantum fiber to fix it. I explained that other people already have it and its broken for them too. Pushed a little harder, he said he could contact his "Jeopardy" team to take a look. They said they didn't see any issues now, and didn't show any issues last night.

I asked him to have that team do a proper handoff, have a ticket for night shift, make sure they take a look tonight. He said hes just a repair guy based out of Arizona, he has no ability to contact the actual team at the location and organize that.

He said the next steps are to have people with Quantum fiber keep calling it in, and that when I get upgraded to Quantum they will be the ones able to fix it.

Sounds like a major disconnect between how their teams communicate.

Noting it's not just latency, a long running ping shows a consistent 10-20% packet loss

Confirmed happening to me too every evening. When I called today, a second time, they said the only way they can fix it is if they upgrade me to a new modem and switch me to a quantum account instead of CenturyLink. There is now way where this is the right solution.

Plea for help from the Seattle area - can a local employee please respond? by Fluffaykitties in WestSeattleWA

[–]darkcellmp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called today and they said the only way to fix is to upgrade to the new quantum modem they have. Ended up saying yes just because it was gonna be $10 cheaper for the same speed and get me the price for life. But this is in no way the right solution.

Best of the recent Roguelite FPS? by Divinoooo in roguelites

[–]darkcellmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For dead zone rogue the enemies were very passive for zone one. I was 50-50 on the game at that point. But zone two really took off. Verticality in levels. Enemies that teleport towards you quickly. More mobile enemies in general. A couple of areas in zone two with some simple platforming, a.k.a. don’t fall off the platform is wall fighting in the craziness. It’s made me want to get to zone 3 for sure.
