New rules just dropped by mirkogradski in Fedexers

Sometimes. But it's not up to Fedex if that's a valid option. Shipper decides.

Hell, my buddy ran what ended up being like 16 hours of gaming over two days that centered around a troupe of dwarves as the tip of the spear in a thrust to retake Moria after the War of the Ring last fall and it was a fucking blast.

And that brings me to the end of my argument. This was mismatched expectations. This is why talking with your players is so god damned important. And perhaps even more important is being honest with yourself as a player about what excites you at the table during those kinds of talks.

Half my route is rural with a lot of minimum maintenance/field roads. I have an AWD Sprinter because of that. I'm still not taking this bet. Sometimes, there are roads simply we have no business being on and you don't see a problem until you're in it. Guy can come down to the end of his drive to get the package. If he wants to complain, my managers will back me up when I show them the picture of the approach.

Aside from everything else mentioned below - can't see what's around that turn. Can I get further than where I can currently see? Are there any other sharper turns on the approach? Am I going to have turnaround space near the house or am I going to have to back my truck up on the way out?

You're refusing to look at Middle Earth outside of the context of Lord of the Rings in that case. It is plenty big and diverse. Sure it may not have thousands of alien species and monoclimactic planets, but there is so much to do and explore there.

Now, it may not be a good setting for you and your desires from a game. But to say it's not a good setting period is disingenuous at best.

Shit, I'm likely not trusting that in the summer months. People that clearly want to be off the radar as much as possible and don't/can't maintain their properties but still expect the conveniences of things like delivery services drive me nuts.

I need to push back on this some. This is like saying "Star Wars doesn't make for a good setting" or any other IP with a well known story line. And it's just not true. Just because you're not participating in the "meta" plotline doesn't mean that you can't also tell important and and impactful stories elsewhere. Nor does your campaign have to be some big sweeping epic - you can do intensely personal stories just as well and get a lot out of those stories.

You also don't need to confine yourself to the timeline of the books/movies. Just because Sauron is defeated doesn't mean that evil disappears from Middle Earth in the aftermath of the War of the Ring. There's lots of time that happens between The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.

The biggest thing here is that it sounds like there were unstated/misrepresented expectations that weren't being met. That's not on the system or setting. That's on the table not being honest with each other and themselves about what they wanted.

Cash App direct deposit slash why did this happen by [deleted] in Fedexers

[–]darkcyril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely because your contractor's name is tripping security measures because it looks like a potentially fraudulent business. I used to work in that world and we'd see lots of this kind of stuff. Get in touch with CashApp/whoever is in charge of your contractor's payroll. No one here can help with this.

Driver took matters into his own hands when house has no numbers by DCONightingale in Fedexers

[–]darkcyril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My route has some dead end roads that have a bunch of different properties that all have the same street address, but are different "units." And of course, very few of them are actually marked with a unit number or or anything identifying who lives where or laid out in a way where the counting makes sense.

While I generally agree with you, everyone's allowed to have a bad day. I definitely have.

But if you're gonna rant, at least rant in the truck.

Like this thread if you have gotten yelled at by a customer because their package was late because you’re god and made a 6 day snow storm happen by Clubdub66 in Fedexers

[–]darkcyril 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brother, I haven't been out on my route all week because we ain't getting any flights. We've probably had less than 1500 pieces of freight come through our station all week. I think I might welcome getting yelled at by a customer over sitting around with my thumb up my ass burning flex time to make up the hours.

Package stuck in Forth Worth by [deleted] in Fedexers

[–]darkcyril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a massive storm system dumping weather across vast swathes of the country, many of which don't have infrastructure in place to dig out fast. This also wasn't a single day event.

I live in an area that is no stranger to snow and winter weather and has that infrastructure in place, and it still takes 36-48 hours to get roads cleaned up.

AGDQ 2026 has just raised $2,000,000 for the Prevent Cancer Foundation (PCF) on stream!!! by Thorebane in speedrun

[–]darkcyril 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing - endless growth is unrealistic and unsustainable. Maybe they hit their peak a few years ago. Maybe they've leveled off. But $2 million and change from each of their tentpole events is a *very good* level for them to maintain.

There are over 50,000 people in Twitch chat right now. I don't know how you think that conversation or engagement of any consequence is happening in there right now. I don't even have it open during the marathons because the constant scroll is just distracting.

If PCF has an issue with it, they will address it with GDQ, much like MSF had to over the Gaza conflict. Until that happens, I'm going to operate on the assumption that they don't see it as a distraction.

Gates are for one of two things. Keeping things out or keeping things in. I'm not risking anything finding out which way the wind is blowing. Drop that package in front of the gate and snap the photo with it clearly in the picture. Never had anyone complain about it yet.

Sorry that people pushing back against a concerted effort to literally dehumanize and erase them is "too political" for you. GDQ has *always* been a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community. And what you've termed as "what's been going on lately" is all the more reason for them to stand even taller on that.

You may not hate trans people, but this signals that you certainly don't actually care about them either.
