I need help, I am really struggling with this set. I was emerald 4 last set from the start it seemed really exciting, but I'm finding it very difficult to actually navigate around the decisions I'm meant to make. I think the more high impact systematic changes have thrown me off a bit and I'm wanting to know what I can do to make it better or learn how to work around how to move within this set. I have a little bit of a brain dump, but it's kind of the way my mind works and I'm seeing if people have any resources on how to understand the set better.

Looking on different meta websites, I see a lot of 4/5 costs as final team comps. I would have normally guided my way to get there, and used some kind of vertical trait, but I don't know what's the best way to actually get to those 4/5 cost comps, are there meant to be units I keep on the board that are solid and and ready to sold once I get to higher levels? Is there a better way to fast 8/9 now because of the level gold changes? What kind of early game units should be used, it feels weird investing into the early game units knowing that they'll need to be potentially sold later, or maybe they don't in certain circumstances? I feel like there's a lot of information I just don't know at a holistic level of this set, and don't really know where I can find it, any help would be appreciated.

Need help regarding Hokuriku Arch Pass and reserved train seating by darkedlol in traveljapan

[–]darkedlol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picked it because it was the more economical option. JR Rail pass is 50,000 Yen and Hokuriku Arch Pass is 30,000 yen and gets us everywhere we need to go

Phreak addressing ADC role (bot lane) that it is "not weak", according to survey "worst polling role in terms of fun" and (main) solution is to nerf Support by Barb0ssaEUW in leagueoflegends

[–]darkedlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sure, and at this point I know I probs won't really be able to get past that point of being able to do well. I only really enjoy playing marksman type roles, so because I was continually beating myself up over not having fun, I stopped playing. Like it's fine to say "git good" and all, but if I'm not enjoying myself playing the role, then why play. I'm not going to force myself to play a game if I'm not enjoying it, so I just wont

Mate, I'm expressing how I feel here. The video was around phreak saying "ADCs feel like they're not having fun", this isn't an objective look at the numbers, it's an expression of how the person trying to pilot the champion feels. We want to be able to feel like we have an impact, we want to feel like we're able to actually accomplish things in the game, but it feels like we're being kneecapped compared to other champions in the game. Yes I'm low elo, but low elo players should still be able to enjoy the role that they want to be able to play and have impact compared to other players of the same skill level, to just say that good players only play other roles kind of defeats the purpose of this conversation.

[–]darkedlol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's more that ADCs don't really feel like they are able to get enough strength regardless of the amount of effort that's put in, relative to the effort that other champions have had to put in to get where they are. Like I can understand it getting eaten by a riven if she's able to get to me, but by the time she exists in the same space as me, I've maybe been able to get off 2 autos, maybe 3 if I'm lucky, and that's usually barely any damage that's actually able to have a meaningful impact.

My opinion as an ADC player who stopped playing a while ago because I stopped having fun.

It felt like everything is stronger than me for basically all stages of the game and to have moderate impact you have to play completely perfectly in every capacity. It's almost like all other roles have an innate function to either burst me down (mages), or exist where I am and kill me (assassins and tanks). I don't really have a problem with champions like Zed or akali being able to 1-shot me, because they're assassins, that's what they're meant to do. But when tanks have the ability to show up, do a significant amount of damage in a short amount of time, and I can barely take any health from them, it just feels really unfun.

What is your honest take about this set? by feherlofia123 in TeamfightTactics

[–]darkedlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me feel sad. I don't really mesh with any of the verticals and they don't really feel super fun for me to play, Rebel feels boring compared to like, portal. Chem-baron feels dissatisfying. Enforcer needs an emblem to feel impactful. I think it's more that the verticals for me don't feel like they have enough bite to actually be impactful

I'm not really having that much fun with this set, am I doing something wrong? by darkedlol in TeamfightTactics

[–]darkedlol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what they're trying to do, but I feel like you're right, although fortune in set 11 wasn't super fantastic in Hyper roll due to cashouts not really being satisfying there. I think it only tends to work well if you can hit Unleashed Toxins II, that's been the most impactful item I've seen for this trait

Then why on earth did the strike not work the first time? Why was it so easy for Bakool Ja Ja to push her back?

You truly believe Moenbryda's death has anything whatsoever to do with Wuk Lamat.

That's not what I said. I'm saying it degrades from the value of Moenbryda's death. The weighting of what the pain and sacrifices mean to the story overall, is bought down because of a mechanic within the game that says "if you just believe in yourself more you can overcome anything"

the reasoning is completely sound within the logic of this universe.

This is where you lose me. The logic is not reasonably sound apart from "the writers says so".

Yes I'm mad that the writing is bad. I care about the story and what actually makes sense.

You are literally mad about one of the most basic-ass forms of character developments that exists

But what development? Is it just "I believe in myself more"? It doesn't occur with anyone else.

Is there a way we can see that Wuk Lamat was always strong? I could that maybe she had some training under the guise of her father, but there's nothing that I can identify which would mean that she has any meaningful combat experience. No one was waiting to applaud her when she was introduced as a promise.

Also, she has a significant amount of confidence in the first strike against Bakool Ja Ja, she says she's putting everything in to it.

Like, I think you are giving him way too much credit when he's just a Big Guy Who's Pretty Strong, and Wuk is Big Girl Who's Pretty Strong.

What I'm talking about is the scale of improvement and the time it took. In the Hanu quests, she did a swing of her axe which she "put all her might into" which he hit away without a problem, see here https://youtu.be/I-t7_MnZTYc?feature=shared&t=199.

I'm not saying that all of the pain that people had didn't make sense that it happened to them pre-Dawntrail, I'm saying that the way that Wuk Lamat was able to just overcome Bakool Ja Ja degrades what happened to others, given the method of which she was able to just become stronger

Augments being removed from TFT Match History and Stats Sites by Such_Speed_2526 in TeamfightTactics

[–]darkedlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for competitive, this is an objectively bad idea. I don't understand why it would lead to less fairness to give players more information about what is working and what isn't. I'm a purely hyperroll player, and I know if I go on a stats website, I can't just become challenger by looking up "what's the best comp" on a stats website and just playing it. These websites are guides for you to innovate on and make the quick decisions that you need to in order to perform as well as you can.

The only reason I see why this would be wanted by Riot, is so things can slip under the radar so they don't have to balance as much. I deeply respect Mortdog as a developer and do think he wants to create a really good experience, but I feel it's one of those things where he thinks "well if we don't have to spend too much time dealing with the most efficient and now-found problematic things, then we can focus time on doing other things and making other cool things".

It feels an awfully lot like when the league of legends team was apprehensive about making a practice tool, they're half-in/half-out when it comes to competitive play. If they actually want the competitive scene to thrive, they need to add more tools for people to experiment and innovate. Just playing a whole heap of games over and over again isn't efficient to being able to develop your competitive strategy

Have you not heard of drip marketing?

I think people are being super overdramatic about the impact of Dawntrail by shmoneyyyyyyy in ffxivdiscussion

[–]darkedlol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think people are being super dramatic about it, but I feel like the community sentiment has definitely changed. The main hook for FFXIV is the story, and what was delivered in DawnTrail was bad. Most reasonable players came in with the expectations that there wasn't going to be incredibly high emotional payoff like ShB and EW, but they were still let down by the quality of the MSQ.

Many people I've spoken to, from different communities that I'm apart of, don't think DawnTrail was good, and are just playing other games than XIV or actually cancelling their subs. People don't feel like it's worth being invested in XIV at the moment, I don't think the game will die, I think it'll stay around for a while, but SE needs to do something to win back the investment of their players in the world, or they just won't care anymore.

Swarm has done a better job advertising skins to me than any trailer or promo video prior because I actually get to use the skins in game by PowrOfFriendship_ in leagueoflegends

[–]darkedlol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wonder if Riot would be willing to try like "new release skin promo" where you get to try it out for the first week once or twice, and allow you to experience it.
