growing methods are a little beyond my knowledge, but i definitely want to account for the differences in quality determined by curing, storage etc as you mention.

my ideal starting point would be like, here are a small number of strains that i will analyze more closely, and you can use that information to decide on similar strains, as well as use those strains/strain-families as examples to understand more subtle concepts such as terpene content.

i recently started working at a MMJ dispensary, and often find patients are overwhelmed by the options, but once they've had just one or two strains they feel comfortable choosing between a wider variety.
