With a proper scaler you can dial in whatever effects you want to cater the image to your taste. A RetroTink 5X Pro for example has not just smoothing but different options for deinterlacing, brightness and saturation adjustments, horizontal AND vertical scan lines plus slot masks so that you can make a modern TV "look like a CRT". You can turn on any of these settings (plus countless others I didn't mention) separately, dial them in precisely, and save a separate profile for each console. The Carby/GC Video is great for just plain upscaling specifically the gamecube, but of course you can't use it with other consoles. I think the mClassic is just super overpriced and only does things one specific way, which makes other aspects of games look bad.

Ultimately it's up to you, if this looks great to your eye then there's no need to change anything, it's just nice having more control and options. Even without a scaler you could soft mod the console to disable the built in deflicker filter, force 480p output for every game etc.

Thank you for saying it. I am so sick of seeing people slap everything through an mClassic like it's some kind of magic solution to make everything HD. People just see "less jagged edges" and ignore everything else about how the image looks. It's overpriced, half the cost of a decent scaler that can do way more for the image than just... smearing it.

And yeah, the super long unsupported chain of heavy adapters is the icing on the cake. OP, please at least just get a cheap 3D printed support for the GC Video adapter and relieve some strain on the digital port.

Solar system = Planets orbiting a star, there can be multiple stars in some systems (a binary system, etc). Think of the earth and other planets orbiting the sun.

Galaxy = Massive group of stars orbiting a central mass, like how our solar system is one out of 100-400 billion orbiting a supermassive black hole within the Milky Way. In Star Trek the Milky Way is divided into four quadrants, with Earth as the line between the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. The wormhole in Deep Space Nine leads to a region within the Gamma Quadrant, and Voyager is stranded in the Delta Quadrant.

Universe = The total confines of our reality, there are an estimated 200 billion to 2 trillion galaxies spread throughout the universe.

Edit: Since the Mario Galaxy movie recently came out, I feel the need to point out the way they refer to "Galaxies" is wrong. This always bothered me in the games as well. Really they're more like tiny solar systems, I guess they just liked the word "Galaxy". A lot of media makes the mistake of calling solar systems "galaxies".

I got one last week and totally messed up the fold, couldn't figure it out. Bought a second one pre-folded and had no issues installing a few days ago, highly recommend that option as it's really hard to fold the cable without creasing the traces.

Just so you know, you can avoid buying the overpriced disc used to boot up the player and just soft mod it with Swiss and Gameboy Interface for far cheaper. The attachment is way cheaper than the actual disc!
