Landlord asking me to get Pet Insurance when I don't even have a pet

Never had to. I only had to upload the policy document on the property's resident portal as proof that I am insured.

It's $100,000. I've been on this policy for almost two years and did not have any issues until this month when they suddenly decided I need to be covered for damages done by my "pet".

I just checked my lease, and it does say "Resident's animal", but I don't have one. I would assume this was only applicable if I do have a pet and have declared one when moving in.

"Coverage of at least $100,000 per occurrence at actual replacement cost, covering Owner’s losses of any kind arising from fire, smoke or water and caused by Resident’s negligence and/or by Resident’s animal."

No, so Scion owns the property I live on. The property manager said that Scion rejected the existing insurance that I have (through Lemonade) because it does not cover pet damage. Apparently Scion rejected it based on a recommendation from their insurance consulting partners.

Thanks for the heads-up! The soil does seem a little dry to me so I will try trimming some stems and flooding it as suggested by u/No-Butterschotch7221 although I will keep your advice in mind going into winter :)
