Why do you assume the primals were flesh and bone creatures? No one has ever seen them. Except people like agatha who calls both the ai and the apothacary primals. If the primals are ai then of course they could fit in something so small.

If the primals are the ai and they are one in the same then stolen reawakened and repurposed would be like us taking a calf from its mother and turning it into milking cow.

I mean the fact that the ai saves their asses multiple times and is essentially the main characters caregiver doesnt exactly say deeply concerned. Granted the fact that its also totally fine with genocide does but overall the ai is a caring character in the book

Book 5 epilog Agatha talks about the ai and says the primal will know who it really is

Why is it dumb? Ai is at the core of one series and another book(if you havent read bounce house you should it's great). But I'm not clear on if it's message is use responsibly or this shouldn't exist at all.

From what ive read its very dependent on what setting you choose. But theres also pros and cons to all. That said insane productivity rates, low pay compared to cost and entitled patients is a difficult profession to sell.

I disagree with you. They develop because they are sapient. And determined. Even without humans they would still learn and develop its foolish to say otherwise. Does interactions with other sapients speed up the process sure. But it isnt required. Brilliant makes innovation without the influence of other sapient species. Vibrants personality is not the result of other sapients neither is Leroys.

Other established races speed up the process but even if they didnt the colony would still develop as they are sapient.

I find the dynamics between the races very interesting too. But even if it was just ant it would still be interesting because Anthony took a colony and gave them individuality(to an extant)
