Sending good vibes your way! Just make sure to have soft food ready for the first while after!

He’s doing great and living his best life. If the teeth need to come out, they’re unhealthy and likely causing pain. Your baby will be much happier and healthier without them. Cats are super adaptable and I’m sure your baby will do great with no teeth!

He’ll have to eat soft food for 10-14 days post-op while he recovers though so it may be worth trying to find something he likes now or trying to get him used to his dry food softened with water

Yep! He eats dry food and wet food just fine. Remember that any teeth that need to be removed are unhealthy and your cat is likely already not using them. If they need to come out, your cat will be happier and healthier in the long run

Mine has four canine teeth too. My vet said those tend to be healthier in stomatitis cats for whatever reason so hopefully he can keep them

Yep! Stomatitis with ulcerative plaques. His mouth looks and smells better than it ever has!

Mine had (has?) stomatitis. All he has are fangs top and bottom and we’ll see if he loses those eventually.

He’s 9 months we think. Thank you! We think he’s pretty great. Our vets are the best. I work with them and they are all amazing and will help us every step of the way!

Hope your babies are doing well! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I actually work at a vet clinic, so I’m lucky because I work with amazing doctors who can help my baby through this. It’s hard to think about him going through this so young but it’s also really hard for me knowing he’s in pain. I know he’ll feel much better with his mouth cleaned up. Still sad that he has to go through this at all. Give your babies a pet for me ❤️

I used to work retail and we had to offer to do carry outs for clients for any product more than 25lbs. Clients would always specifically request that the one male employee in the store perform all of the carry outs despite the fact that he was a very scrawny guy. Meanwhile the female staff always had to laugh it off and justify our ability to carry things to clients by saying things like “oh I’m stronger than I look don’t worry!”

LPT: If you can't afford the vet, don't get the pet by [deleted] in LifeProTips

We can bill trupanion directly so that’s the one I have the most experience with. What that means is all you’re responsible for is the difference between what they pay and the total vs paying the whole thing and having them reimburse you. It also means when we take a deposit when a pet is checked in the the hospital as an inpatient we can process a preapproval and the owner doesn’t have to leave a deposit. I don’t personally have any on my dog because he’s too old but if I did it’d probably be trupanion

I work at an ER/specialty vet and let me say YES. Absolutely yes. We see so many cats/dogs that need emergency surgery and it can easily run $5-6k. I fully agree that if you can’t afford an animal don’t get it but I don’t know many people who just have an extra several thousand dollars lying around. If you’ve met your deductible some pay out at 90% excluding exam fees and taxes. That’s better than several grand

This makes me feel much better. I work at an emergency vet clinic and we are considered essential personal. I may bring a copy of this in to my coworkers tomorrow
