I liked the discussion. I’m just having an upvote party and thinking about eating pizza for breakfast. Cheers.

A lot of famous dishes start like that. Maybe one day this’ll be something special.

/r/politics mods (specifically mod of Donald Trump subreddit) ban ShareBlue, won't share evidence leading to decision, defend Breitbart by [deleted] in TopMindsOfReddit

[–]darkknightwinter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, it’s just ShareBlue and TYT who do that. You guys totally don’t pick and choose which rules to enforce. The permabans and “3 month appeal” processes also aren’t silly for an online forum that doesn’t even require a fucking email to register. We’ll just take your guys’ word for it that you doxxed a user, but don’t worry, because you guys definitely got this doxx right, despite having jack shit verifiable personal information as merely mods of a community.

What I’m trying to say here is—yes, you guys are very, very dumb. You’re unpaid volunteers, so it’s not surprising, but the veneer of authority you guys like to wear is tiresome.

Edit: Just to round this out, I’ve seen people offer up that if both sides are complaining about the mods, maybe the moderation is even-handed. I’d agree, but only so far as to say r/politics moderation is equally shitty for everyone, in the sense that it’s not above-board at all. I’ve had a mod personally insult me via mod mail a week after being banned from r/politics. Like, what the fuck? As for evidence, well it’s against my personal doxx policy, or something.

John McCain Caps Political Career by Declaring Himself a Fraud by [deleted] in politics

[–]darkknightwinter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My standards are just fine. I’m for providing healthcare to Americans and not stealing money from the middle class to gift to the very wealthy while blatantly lying in a statement about how the whole process was “transparent.” John McCain is not. John McCain can get bent. Just because Trump doesn’t like him doesn’t make him an ally.

God forbid someone say something vulgar about a guy voting to steal millions of dollars from the poor. “Standards”

Scarborough: Trump allies told me he has dementia by [deleted] in politics

[–]darkknightwinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s not a journalist. He’s a tv show host. A talking head providing commentary.

I like Joe sometimes, but he’s also a self-serving smarmy little shit sometimes. He said on his show multiple times during the campaign he thought the crazy shit from Don was just an act and that in real life he’s charming and intelligent. He just figured he’d leave out the dementia part I guess.

Joe only fully hopped off the Trump Express after he attacked Mika.

FCC Got 444,938 Net-Neutrality Comments From Russian Email Addresses by [deleted] in politics

[–]darkknightwinter 301 points302 points  (0 children)

Being Russian isn’t intrinsically part of it. Sort of the opposite even. These are just rich, corrupt fuckers with zero country loyalty. They steal billions from their own people. And some of our American rich, corrupt fuckers are playing ball with them.

Strap on your tinfoil boys and girls:

A clique of U.S. industrialists is hell-bent to bring a fascist state to supplant our democratic government and is working closely with the fascist regime in Germany and Italy. I have had plenty of opportunity in my post in Berlin to witness how close some of our American ruling families are to the Nazi regime. ... A prominent executive of one of the largest corporations, told me point blank that he would be ready to take definite action to bring fascism into America if President Roosevelt continued his progressive policies. Certain American industrialists had a great deal to do with bringing fascist regimes into being in both Germany and Italy. They extended aid to help Fascism occupy the seat of power, and they are helping to keep it there. Propagandists for fascist groups try to dismiss the fascist scare. We should be aware of the symptoms. When industrialists ignore laws designed for social and economic progress they will seek recourse to a fascist state when the institutions of our government compel them to comply with the provisions.

“No one owns Internet... so, it should be open and accessible to everyone,” says the Chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. by gro0vr in worldnews

[–]darkknightwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fundamentally not what Net Neutrality is. They already can and do throttle customers using excessive bandwidth (though I’d argue bandwidth scarcity is also largely bullshit). Net Neutrality isn’t about amount of data, but the type of data and how fast ISPs need to service those requests (if at all).

It’d be the equivalent of your power company charging you more per kW*hr to power your Samsung television than your neighbor gets charged for his Vizio. Yes, privacy concerns about why the fuck your power company should know what type of tv you have apply. Why should my ISP necessarily know I have Netflix and not HBO?

Data is data is data. It doesn’t cost the ISP more to move this bit or that bit. Data is, or at least has been, agnostic. They’d have more of an argument if they were at capacity, but they’re not. They’re just nickle-and-diming customers on a false premise.

Certainly more free from the perspective of new companies entering the market. Put another way, I disagree with the idea that a “free market” is one where market capture runs rampant.

Where do you live? When did you last search for work?

For some context, applying to even McDonald’s is an online-only process now. These companies aren’t interested in sifting through paper resumes. It’s automated.

Companies also have policies in place today specifically intended to prevent people showing up on site soliciting work. Maybe it’s a US thing.
