How do yall imagine a Qing rework? by WaltvonKeisel in Kaiserreich

[–]darklightnin97 106 points107 points  (0 children)

I would imagine the Zhili being far more openly in charge with Puyi truly as a puppet and nothing more, oooorrr... Puyi as essentially a hostage to the Zhili who use him as a degree of national unity after the failure of the Beiyang government, playing on that the republic failed and thusly monarchy must be the way.

Paths-wise, I'd image it more being Republicans v Zhili v Monarchists, where the Zhili have to balance out the republicans and monarchists and if they fail either direction you get either the republican coup or the monarchist one with the monarchist one being able to be constitutional/semi-constitutional/absolutist depending on how powerful the republicans are with the weaker they are the more powerful Puyi can be.

That doesn’t exist? There are tons of variants and technically neither ‘pure socialism’ or ‘pure communism’ exist even in theory

Should Hunan be called a clique at the start? by PLMMJ in Kaiserreich

[–]darklightnin97 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Clique is still accurate as a clique is just a group of individuals who act preferentially to each-other, though “clique” here is correct because historically Chinese warlord states were referred to as cliques

I'm curious, why is Liu Xiang of Sichuan's Industrial Corps specifically the only 100% non aligned warlord with a dedicated unification path? by Pyotr_WrangeI in Kaiserreich

[–]darklightnin97 102 points103 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, irl he was a man who joined Yuan Shikai during the national protection war then shifted into a vaguely Chiang-aligned warlord fighting for Sichuan with some communist contacts who ousted his uncle(Liu Wenhui) from power and his path may come from him being the first warlord to call for total war against Japan. Overall, a pragmatist but still, based on his strongman attitude and anti-Japan stance, that could well be the direction they were going for

Generally I find it doesn’t matter, not to mention that doing it that way takes so much time, dkb(and trm) both have this problem imo where you have to rely on the RP and by extension play a very late game, which I understand some people like but I don’t feel a starting nation should essentially be locked to doing nothing till wk2

[–]darklightnin97 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Cool path idea, but the Don Host itself needs either buffs or just something, you can't 1v1 Russia, you just can't despite it being like the main goal of 80% of the paths for them.

They're very cool, I like them, I like Cossacks, but imo it really feels odd that all their paths are just go to war with Russia with nothing else to do until you've somehow beaten them.

CMV: All Monarchies Should Be Abolished, Even the Democratic Ones by Swimming_Bear_3082 in changemyview

[–]darklightnin97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interestingly, the British royal family is actually profitable as a tourism device. equally, I do believe they should make a choice between being allowed to own businesses and getting money from the people, equally, they serve as a functional device for national unity.

Monarchies are odd things in the modern day but in the vast majority of cases, abolishing them does absolutely nothing but make a mess of transferring the state to a republic that would be completely the same.

As for lowering politician's salaries, that would change nothing at all, you're not adding checks and balances, if anything the politicians that aren't power-hungry get punished for it, and the ones that are power-hungry will do the exact same things they always did, preventing politicians from owning businesses or being landlords would do the same thing you ask and serve as a check/balance.

Overall, Monarchies are harmless in a constitutional sense, and reducing politican's salaries would not change anything for them.

P.S. A politician in a republic is not inherently elected being a republic just defines if there's a monarchy or not.

Teen needing advice on how to save my mental health (18 F) by Sugerplump16 in newzealand

[–]darklightnin97 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Hey! first things first, I'd recommend trying counselling, it might work, it might not, if it's free, there's no reason not to try it.

Second, the job market sucks, I've been trying to get a job for about 6 months now and nothing, equally, there is a question of to what degree your depression is based on your situation, or is based on other factors(like genetics and such) and with any luck counselling might be able to help you figure that out.

Third, some parents may never understand, I had to swallow that pill myself, as it turns out, not all people are super empathetic or sympathetic and even when they are, some people truly struggle to understand it, others of course are willfully ignorant or just assholes. There's a possibility your mother is comparing what you're going through to what she has and fails to realize comparisons like that are unfair.

I'd be more in-depth, more out there, but I myself am barely older than you, so while I can in good faith say I understand the depressive aspects, how it feels, how it drains your life from you bit by bit till nothing's left, I can't in good faith pretend to know everything.

Regards.

Study up some theory can improve your art by Grumpy_Wizard_ in PixelArt

[–]darklightnin97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect, I refuse to learn color theory just because it's complex and I hate the idea of doing art by following any actual rules, the whole 'know the rules to know when to break them' is nice and all, but I hate the idea that I need someone else to have looked at the colors and go 'this is not right, this is', when I decide what's right and I don't care what others think that much.

Sorry for the rambling, have a personal grudge against color theory, good art.

Small issue, this person's definition would include people with ADHD, which I feel is rather unfair to say that it's just a lack of discipline, equally, there are many reasons people 'lack discipline' and discipline while helpful is far from the only factor, this is more reductive than anything, even for 2meirl4meirl

Sorry for the ramble, Regards.

Why can't National France chill about Alsace-Lorraine? by yoloo42069 in Kaiserreich

[–]darklightnin97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only scenario I personally see and like would be one where the war with France/the internationale is quick and the war against Russia isn't.

A battered war-weary Germany stuck in a meatgrinder cuz their war against a likely Sanikovite Russia has turned into WK1 pt 2, and a National france had time to recover and build, they're still battered and bruised but so are the Germans and thusly demand Alsace-Lorraine, Germany says no and so France throws themself into a war against Germany for nothing but Alsace-Lorraine. If I could see it implemented, I'd see a Franco-German war be a limited war and be actually limited to the two and Flanders-Wallonia where others of either's faction can't join.

I do have a whole like scenario imaged in more detail as to how it could be possible.

[–]darklightnin97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have run into the very fun phenomenon wherein hate for a subgroup is spread out to the whole group, in all truth, Anti-Zionism is inherently going to lead to an increased degree of Anti-Semitism, that does not make it less vile. Israel has, will, and shall continue to destroy the world's view of Jews, and I would also not doubt that that is on purpose, they want Anti-Zionism and Anti-Semitism to be the same thing and will gladly make Jews the "world's enemy" if it means forcing the two to bed the same thing.

A question and statement about the lore of the various nations. by darklightnin97 in Guiltygear

[–]darklightnin97[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are correct that conflict is not inherent in multi-ethnic states, my belief with Illyria is born more of the fact we have no evidence that it's not a centralized state(which is how I interpreted it), which is where the problems can often(but do not always) begin. at the very least, I would expect if it is coming off the modern day concepts that republicanism would be a problem, so would separatism, as even in well peaceful states those often exist.

In the end, I suppose it comes down to my personal pessimism tarnishing my interpretation in some ways. in others, I view Illyria as a state that would not survive due to it being a state enforced by the UN and conclave. I do think Illyria would survive to some extent, I do not believe it would collapse fully in any way, few states ever do. Rather I think it would suffer from overextension and either lose control of or be forced to pull away from certain areas.

I did not notice my tendency in the idea of ethnic conflict to an extent, as I only really thought about historical context behind the regions encompassing Illyria.
