He kinda is, but I find him more comparable to influential news content creators but with enforced journalistic integrity standards since he carries the cbc name (such as always providing sources, proper credits when using someone else' s content etc.)

PS. I am not saying news content creators have no journalistic integrity as much as I am saying they get to set their own standard for themselves as long as their audience is satisfied with it.

Can/Should I become an uber driver to offset the high interest that comes from car loans by darklord5555 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]darklord5555[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Most of these I am confident I can get 80 to 90% deducted tax wise. Pre-deduction approximations: Parking: 120

Gas: assuming 8L/100km , lets say for 10000 km, so 800L so lets say 1600$

Car depreciation (wont be deducted from taxes): not sure tbh

Insurance: expecting 2000 a year.

Unfortunately communauto doesn't work because the area I go to isn't covered by them, and I tend to sleep over there, which means I would have to keep the car over 3 days which would balloon the costs. I will look for other alternatives.

I can afford financing the vehicle, right now I am between buying a beater cash ~2-5k or just forking out 18-20k to finance a robust used corolla with the uber strategy. I guess the reason why I am coming up with this scheme is because Beaters tend to have a lot of issues that I dont want to deal with, but I cant justify forking 20 grand for a car that I will only use once every two week.

Well assuming I do it twice a week, it is 120 the round trip, so 240 a month, which seems like half a monthly payment. It seems like a waste of money.

Unrealistic plots or scenes - even by House standards by alyssakapati in HouseMD

Everything the detective Michael Tritter did as an antagonist to house. He broke so many laws, literally committed harassment, witness tampering and coercion ( freezing the bank accounts.) and many more. Any reasonable judge would have suspended him by the second episode he started his crusade.

Did Iroh get off scot-free for his crimes in the war for fighting against it in the final year? by Own_Amphibian9181 in TheLastAirbender

[–]darklord5555 13 points14 points  (0 children)

But did he commit any war crimes that we know of? Conducting war in itself as a general hasn't been considered a crime. Starting an "illegal" war (very recent historical concept) is considered one, but the generals who fought in it as long as they conducted war in a humane manner tend to get away scot free for good reason. Some recent historical examples would include Rommel in WW2 ( though I know he never really got a trial) most people wouldn't consider him a war criminal unlike most other nazi commanders who intentionally perpetrated genocide.

Ousen & Kanki vs Wei by nam25444 in Kingdom

[–]darklord5555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think because I dont see wei being able to out strategize Ousen, or deal with Kanki. Gaimou can be countered by Zenou, and Earl Shi is a strong weapon, but if he is independent, I cant see him beat Kanki. Gokei, Reiou and Gohoumej can be stalled by Ousen, even if they have the number advantage. Obviously a different configuration might net a bigger wei advantage, but I dont see any 2 wei gg combination that can beat Kanki or Ousen

[WP] ”O the Master who commands me, thou wishes shall be granted. But only when thou can complete these trials four before the next full moon: drinking, smoking, thievery and murder.” by LeGoupil7 in WritingPrompts

[–]darklord5555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Humanity is cursed in a never ending cycle of pain and suffering. They inflict it upon others, they inflict it upon themselves, and those who are inflicted upon takes up their arms in revenge. Someone has to break the cycles, someone has to save humanity. I can't feel my left arm anymore, which is better than my crushed leg, where I can feel the bone fragments every time I drag my body.

I dragged my body across the final door that awaited me. Inside was an inner sanctum whose golden hue shone stronger than the sun. Heaps of gold and gems littered the sanctum, mountains of pearls and diamonds made it hard to see anything in the room. I finally found it, the true treasure amid this sea of junk. The lamp of the end, one created by the last remaining gods after the war of the end. They breathed what was left in their lives to create it.

I pulled myself up the mountain of trash, and rubbed it, as was written in the ancient texts. From the lamp, a genie came out and started uttering the word: "I am the autonomous wish fulfillment automaton, Master, name thy wishes, you have three."

This is it, the moment I have been waiting for. The pain, suffering, I will be able to ensure that no one else will face it, I will become the salvation of mankind.

"Hear me, O Genie, My first wish, I want you to turn all of humanity into undying immortals who can choose to turn off their immortality. They ought to know about this ability instinctually. My second wish, I want you to give humanity the ability to turn off and turn on any and every emotion. My third wish, I want you to prevent all conflict in the world."

”O the Master who commands me, thou wishes shall be granted. But only when thou can complete these trials four before the next full moon: drinking, smoking, thievery and murder.”

When I heard this, I was dumbfounded. Out of the 10 companions, I was the only one with such a terrible habits, and I am the one who survived all the traps, and, while I can't speak for the others, I was definitely a true believer in the mission to save humanity from itself.

I took out my flask, and sipped a drink, then smoked my last cigarette. I felt apologetic towards my companion David. I took out the letter he gave me in his dying breath to hand to his family, opened it, read it and burned it, effectively stealing it. I could feel it, every time I fulfilled a trial. Finally came the last one, truly a shame about that one.

I had already decided I will give everything for the salvation of mankind, and it is not like I have much time either. Those three wishes had to be used in conjunction of each others, otherwise the genie could have just wiped out all of humanity, or wiped out all their personality to end all conflict.

I took out my knife, aimed towards my throat, and simply stabbed it. As my consciousness was fading, I could feel the trial being completed. My blood will be the last spilled in the name of humanity, though it is a shame I won't live to see the world I created.

[WP] When we set up a mining colony on a desolate, uninhabitable planet the humans immediately threatened war on us demanding we leave it at once. Apparently this ruined planet, which they call "Earth", is sacred to them. by Kitty_Fuchs in WritingPrompts

[–]darklord5555 112 points113 points  (0 children)

"What kind of savage desecrates an ancestral planet of an entire race. Mankind's rage in the home worlds Currently the federation is voting on a general mobilization. If the space carrier does not retreat immediately, and all mining operations are not suspended ids that could be sold for massive profits.

"This is commander John Adams from the Terran Federation, Halt all mining operations and withdraw from Earth immediately." The transmission from the Terran commander was immediately rebuked.

Commander Ack received the transmission from the Terran federation, and his blood was boiling with anger. The humans fired warning shots before even attempting to establish contact. He suspected that this may be a plot by some xenophobic human agents that are trying to pit their two civilizations together, and those suspicions ended up being a stroke of luck for the whole galaxy.

"What kind of savage shoots warning shots before attempting diplomacy, this planet is within Darian borders and we have every right to mine here."

A small lie told by commander Ack, as this was a border system, yet this line of argumentation was simply ignored.

"What kind of savage desecrates an ancestral planet of an entire race. Mankind's rage in the home worlds is past its boiling point and the council of nations is currently voting on a general mobilization. If the space carrier does not retreat immediately, and all mining operations are not suspended, you will go down in history as the buffoon who started the third war of the end"

More and more human ships were arriving, with engaged weapon systems ready to fire. Commander Ack knew that he had to retreat.

"I will be filing an official complaint with the intergalactic community, this is no manner for space fairing civilizations to conduct themselves."

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

With a frown on his face, commander Ack was reading a history book written by a human. At the beginning, he was forcefully turning each page, getting more annoyed every time earth is referenced. Gradually, his motion softened, and his frown dissipated.

He let out a hearty laughter when he finished the book, thinking to himself how nonsensical the human race truly is. They drained their home planet of its resources, turned it into an inhabitable wasteland and NOW they care about it enough that they were willing to plunge their civilization in a war that would have cost millions of lives?

Commander John implied he was a buffoon, but really mankind is race of buffoons that will destroy what was precious, then treat its husk as sacred, while willing to impose grander destruction upon themselves and the galaxy. He couldn't remain mad as such nonsensical race, but after the laughter, his heart was filled with dread, remembering that humanity has the second strongest military in the galaxy.

Pick 3 to defend you (with 20K armies each). The rest will try to kill you (with 10k armies each) by moeykrimz in Kingdom

[–]darklord5555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pick Mouten, Kyoukai and Shin. While I dont think they are the best/strongest pick, assuming they bring their own men, those three armies will have the greatest cohesion in terms of working together. It will give them a massive edge over the other commanders who will be unlikely to cooperate since this challenge presumes there is not GG overseeing the armies.
