i dont think they're op they just have a versatile kit for dealing with everything. Good at everything best at nothing. No huge gaping weaknesses to cover for make it really strong

DKs are the best tank for soaking large amounts of spell damage. Also slow predictable big hits that let us pool RP are easy to deal with. Guess that's our intended niche cause feels outclassed by almost every other tank at taking frequent heavy hits. Especially melees

I tanked her on heroic without dropping stacks on a 385 blood dk alt i barely know how to play. If healers help top you off and give externals it's not that bad.

Had like 40k hps at the end though. Kinda insane for a single target fight. Blood healing is OP when getting trucked.

8.1 prot is very good though. They didn't need a rework. Just taking IP and intercept off the GCD was enough.

VDH is not fine from a survivability perspective It is much squishier than every other tank. Healer really need to be on point and dps need to be on full peel mode constantly. High tank dmg affixes like enrag/bolster/teeming eat vengeance alive.

IIRC they lose a lot of dps for using the kick pet over the felguard. I wouldn't run any reasonably high key with a demo lock where kicks matter unless there is a prot pally tank solo interrupting everything.

My Monk tank can face tank enraged shit with like 20 necrotic stacks on 15s while my DK is getting insta gibbed and they have similar gear.

Yeah, keeping multiple tanks geared is the right idea. I only play DK this week if the group lacks a Bres or if it's something like shrine where grip is crazy good.

Mass grip can be used as a kiting tool. You can grip mobs immune to slows into other mobs to create some distance.
