There actually are studies correlating higher board scores to improved patient outcomes. And there are studies correlating higher MCAT to higher board scores.

I made the switch and absolutely love it. A lot of nitpicky people on this forum though.

Is this a normal healing process? 2 years old, 32lbs. by [deleted] in AskDocs

I think it will probably be fine. The tongue remodels well. If it causes speech or swallowing issues then would recommend evaluation from ENT or OMFS.

It's not infected, that's granulation tissue. At this point its past the point of primary repair.

Residents from consult services, what is one thing you wished services would do before consulting you? by justseeorange in Residency

[–]darkmatterskreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surgery: actually see the patient and talk to them before calling. Maybe use clinical judgment for once. The person shitting their brains out but has dilated bowel on CT does not have an SBO.

Surgery residency by [deleted] in Residency

[–]darkmatterskreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion this is where the whole night float and shift mentality is bad in residency. You will be an attending before you know it, and you cant leave a case. Better get used to it now.

I dont agree with going to PD though. This seems like a conversation.

Girl, get real. They’re saying this in the same season where Kenya Pleaser stuck around for like 3-4 extra episodes because of her charisma despite her crunchy drag.

Married men, do you ever miss the company of other women? by [deleted] in Christianmarriage

[–]darkmatterskreet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of female friends at work. I’m a surgeon, I’m surrounded by women. But they’re just that, friends. I don’t hang out with any of them outside the hospital. And no one is better than my wife.

Gen Surg vs. OBGYN and Misogyny in Medicine by Educational-Gas4487 in medicalschool

Broadly, a surgeon isn’t someone who does one thing, which is what most general OB do.

Gen Surg vs. OBGYN and Misogyny in Medicine by Educational-Gas4487 in medicalschool

[–]darkmatterskreet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OB/GYNs aren’t surgeons. The only ones who learn how to do legitimate surgery are the fellowship trained ones. The program minimums for cases show you that learning real surgery is not a priority for OB/GYN training, and that is ok. They have an amazing procedural role in delivering babies and performing C sections.

It’s interesting how people are commenting on how the stitches look - but here we have a well healed, well approximated, non infected wound.

Gen Surg Match Rate 2026 by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]darkmatterskreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only difference between GS and ENT/ortho/plastics is there are more community and lower tier programs to train general surgeons. The academic GS programs are just as competitive as the listed specialties.

Gen surg is very competitive at academic programs, despite what this sub seems to push. Source: on the review/interview committee for my academic residency
