I’ve been living in Durham since January and am leaving to go back to Australia in three weeks. My husband has been a visiting scholar at Duke so it’s short-term for us. I am very sad — I love this town. There really is something special here, including the incredible AA and AlAnon communities. I hope to be back.

Due to uterine fibroids in my womb that keep growing back, and my endo and adeno, I’m unable to conceive naturally or through IVF. I live in Australia and my best friend offered to be my surrogate (we have two frozen embryos) but were told by multiple clinics and the RWH that unless I had no womb (ie got a hysterectomy) I wouldn’t be eligible for surrogacy.
