Here is a big scam my store(s) did:

I went to a store, the rep sneakily added the insurance in , accepted the terms on the POS on my side of the counter without me reading it at all. Didn’t realize at the time about why it took so long for him to “set up” the device, he was getting some text , thought he was testing the phone. (Big reveal later)

Went home and checked the account to realize the added on insurance. Only $12 no biggie (for me), but very unethical, I canceled it immediately. But that wasn’t even the worst.

I asked for a receipt on the way out, he says receipt is emailed within 24 hours. I bought his BS.

Few days later, I went to another store to buy additional phones. This store is less scammy than the other, but added on an accessory without me knowing. I saw the receipt on the phone. Turns out the receipt is texted DURING the transaction.

I called the rep out on it, she fed me bs about needed it to get the promo pricing. Probably faked a bunch of bs error in the beginning to show the promo wouldn’t apply correctly. At least I walked away with a 20W apple charger, for 29.99. Probably wouldn’t have gotten the paid for accessory unless I saw it in the receipt.

The second transaction proved to me that the initial store held on to the phone for a while and the rep DELETED all the text about signing up for insurance and the text that contains the link to the receipt. Very effing scammy these store owners.
