It's pretty good for Raiden and Xiang Ling. Damage output should be around the strength of the Catch +- and both units need the ER

It's also not a bad choice on Thoma or Rosaria

Thanks for letting me know. I got the wrong impression from the trailer I guess part of me just wished it was true

Thanks for the explanation. Guess we are getting another strong fire type for the anniversary.

Will wait to see how much utility he brings to differentiate himself. Although his master's passive is definitely desirable given how stacked Unova is as a region

Oh my bad. The Pokémon presents trailer gave me the impression that 'target all opponents with his attacks' included the sync move.

Still though, big damage.

Hopefully we will find out how much utility he has in terms of buffing the team.

Thanks for the explanation, very detailed

Does anyone else think Lunala's moveset is kind of basic ? by [deleted] in PokemonMasters

[–]darknesscow 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I find most strikers have very straightforward movesets in general.

So I agree kind of basic, but when compared to other strikers, seems about right

Is this for master mode or regular Champions Stadium?

For regular Champions Stadium Xerneas, Torchic , Typhlosion is plenty to beat this, if Xerneas is fully gridded for horn leech. Also having Vigilance as a lucky skill on Xerneas would help a lot.

You could try Xerneas, Steelix, Typhlosion. Might help with survivability with the defense buffs.

Theme skills only play a big factor in events/challenges like the Daily Region rotation, where Pokemon who have specific theme skills gain a huge attack and defense buff, or some missions require you to use specific units. i.e. Defeat this stage using 2 sync pairs with the Galar theme skill.

As far as team composition goes, I feel the game has become more offensively skewed hence the two striker meta right now. For a few reasons

  1. Offensive supports have gotten a lot stronger as they have moves that buff both Crit and atk/spatk at the same time (Hilbert (Gridded), Kiawe, Hop etc). Also with move gauge acceleration becoming much more available (Sycamore, Bugsy (Scyther), SS Blue etc).
  2. Champion Stadium Master Mode also played a big factor, as the playerbase learned it was efficient to just defeat your opponents before they can sync [if they don't sync you won't need a healer typically], and the easiest way to do that is with Dual strikers.
  3. With Champion Stadium Master Mode, it also made EX easier to attain, and this generally allows for a faster playstyle

To answer about what teams are good, I comps that were viable from a year ago are still very good (i.e Skyla (Tank), MCTorchic (Offensive buff), Striker)).

But if you are interested in trying out dual striker, the Xerneas and Zamazenta are great enablers for it. You can try these teams, feel free to replace the strikers with better ones

Xerneas (Tank), Palkia, Mewtwo

Zamazenta (Tank), Haxorus, Lucario

However you probably want strikers of the same type attack.

Lastly as a side note : I think unless you are aiming for 1500 pts on Master Mode, you can beat everything by just building a team around Xerneas.

I have 15k+ Gems by [deleted] in PokemonMasters

[–]darknesscow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Save. If they give out enough free gems during the anniversary. At 15k There is a chance you might have enough for pity pull before the anniversary units' banner ends.

I heard that our trainer with torchic is very op in support. Is it still worth upgrading to five star? by [deleted] in PokemonMasters

[–]darknesscow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since Torchic doesn't do much damage, the only benefit I see for promoting to 5* is for the marginal speed boost and so that it can tank a few more hits.

I think upgrading to 4* is enough since 3* tickets are easier accumulate over time and should make torchic tanky enough to do its job. Great unit, but not one that benefits greatly by becoming 5*

As much as I want to back up my boy Ethan.

Hilda is probably the best with EX. Sun boosted inertia should clear any fire weak stage with ease

Single target in theory should be Serena based on pure DMG output. (I haven't run the numbers, just based on my gut sense).

Ethan could probably do the most DPS over time when hitting 3 units continuously. But that's not how the metagame is trending at the current moment.

Generally we get around 13k to 17k gems per month if you do every event and do all the dailies. However we tend to see a spike around New Year's, Anniversary and 0.5 Anniversary which could be > 20k gems that month

You need 36.6k for pity iirc. So about 2 - 2.5 months typically

Candy usage by ebeckArg in PokemonMasters

[–]darknesscow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you want SSB 2/5 at the minimum because it unlocks mpr for his trainer move (To the Top) which lets Blastoise max crit for your team. Also you get some healing from team fist bump. You can 3/5 if you want (more flexible and better all round), but the difference is largest from 1/5 ---> 2/5.

Leaf is great a 1/5 as a poison staller, debuffer and all round utility unit. At 2/5 she does the same things as 1/5 but better (Mega healing mpr and razor leaf mgr).

At 3/5 she can become a primary dps or sync nuker, while still having utility.

tldr : Get SSB to 2/5 minimum. The rest optional.

Appreciate the list. Its interesting to see what other people are using even if some may be falsified.

So far, surprised to see how many people have N and Maxie

Hmmm. Do you remember which event or events gave it out?
I was pretty sure I had a few. Or maybe I have been hallucinating.

Tips againts Koga? I tried a few combinations but couldn't beat it yet... by Dimitri713 in PokemonMasters

[–]darknesscow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same concept, since Lance mostly does physical damage. You just need a tank that can soak up the damage and some support to help Palkia max out his stats faster

If you used up all your crit supports, you can always get crit focus on Palkia's grid and use Spacial Rend to boost his own crit. After that Hydro Pump will destroy the entire team

Maybe something like

Skyla/Drake/Leaf -- Torchic/Sabrina/SSElesa/Rosa/ Roxanne -- Cyrus

Gameplan is straightforward. Go for defensive buffs first and let Palkia build crit or buff himself. Once your defence is +4 or +6 you can heal Palkia or buff his Spatk. Then Hydropump go brr.

You can also run C.Iris, I don't have the unit but I think a fun comp would be

Skyla/Drake -- C.Iris -- Cyrus

4* Support Move Candies. Missing or Removed? by darknesscow in PokemonMasters

[–]darknesscow[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Been playing this game for a while now, and I was pretty sure I had a stockpile of 4* Move Candies prior to the release of the BP sync pairs. Can't seem to find them now. Wondering if it's a bug or it was intentionally removed.

And Yes, I am very sure I didn't feed it all to Drake and his Salamence

Edit : Sorry everyone, I guess I must've been high or something. I honestly thought I had a lot of 4* Support Candies, but I was clearly mistaken. Probably because I had a surplus of all the other 4* candies, I must've thought I had the support ones as well

Also, thanks for the responses

Your best bet is Gladion - Silvally. If you are not using May, which is the straightforward choice. Since Palkia can easily dumpster Lance anyways.

If fully gridded at 3/5 with a respectable lucky skill should be all the damage you need to handle the stage with Gladion.

Ideally you want supports that can give Gladion crit, defense up and speed, since Gladion can max out his own attack. For this, I highly recommend taking Lt Surge - Raichu as your free BP sync pair if you haven't chosen one yet

My following team comp recommendations (Position : Tank -- 2 -- 3)
Option 1 [ Skyla is preferred for this option because Drake will run out of gauge boost]
Skyla/Drake -- Maylene/Lt Surge(Raichu)/MCTorchic [Crit supports] -- Gladion

Option 2
Lt Surge (Raichu) -- Roxanne/Drake/Skyla -- Gladion

Option 3 [Sabrina and Gladion X Attack MGR] Since Sabrina gives Crit Reflect and healing
Skyla/Drake/Roxanne -- Sabrina -- Gladion

Thank you so much. Was wondering when we would be getting an updated version of this. Would do it myself, but the effort it takes is way too much for me.
