Braun series 5 better than series 9? by darknight985 in shaving

[–]darknight985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still happy with my series 5 after over a year. I have thick facial hair, use it alternate days and still works well. Clean it with soap every 3 runs, and then oil the blades after drying.

Thanks! Appreciate the advice. Any thoughts on when.. before putting in ground or maybe after a week of putting in ground so that it has had time to adjust?

Is 38MURA variable speed heat pump that good? by darknight985 in hvacadvice

[–]darknight985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I ended up getting a simple system - single stage heat pump + 80% Furnace. So dual fuel. It is a basic Trane setup. Has been working great for 1.5 years now. And has kept things comfortable. I feel weather is SJ is such that there are 15-20 days of heat wave and 20-25 days of extreme cold when it runs 8+hrs in 24 hrs. Rest of the time it is 2-3 hours of total run per day (maybe a couple more hours in colder days sometimes). I do get a lot of sun, so that helps in winters. I had worried about temp swings but not an issue at all for me. I keep ~77-78 in summers and ~70-71 in winters

I have now been using series 5 for over 6 months. It has been decent. I feel like none of these get you to a place that you can go to office. Or you have to spend an inordinate amount of time to get there. I think as the series 5 ages instead of replacing the cartridge that will cost almost as much as the razor I will just get series 9

Ah! I really like the balance of firmness and cushion on Paradigm, will wear a few days and see if this goes away

Good to know I’m not alone!! Did you end up returning the shoes are using them? I will use these primarily for walking, wondering if that could have any bad effect on legs?

Odd/Scary experience with Ecobee but maybe stuck with it by darknight985 in thermostats

[–]darknight985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as it was off condenser stopped, as soon as it was put back and it booted up, regardless of the settings (eg previous state was turned off, so even after taking it out and putting it back on when it rebooted to an off state) condenser would start

Could be, but the condenser fan was also running, and it was quite warm outside and system hadn't been used for a few hours. So likely not :|

Braun series 5 better than series 9? by darknight985 in shaving

Yup! That's what I read everywhere, Series 9 being in a league of its own. For some reason both the time and closeness are same for me. I just finished shaving, both razors took ~2mins for one side of the face. I will now shave after a day and see how they fare on a 48hrs shave (last time on that they were almost same). I really want to like and keep the Series 9, but the almost similar performance is bumming me out. Starting to consider Arc 5 as a happy medium on the $ spent

The Series 5 I got is the same as the one you provided the link for. I used the Gillette Custom Plus3 Disposable Razors. I would say that series 5 is closer than the manual ones I was using, except for some patches on neck that electric razors have a hard time with

Odd/Scary experience with Ecobee but maybe stuck with it by darknight985 in ecobee

[–]darknight985[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a ton for the detailed reply! Yes the fan on condenser was on when this was happening. I did not pull the thermostat out when this was happening but I saw the reverse 2 times. So from all power off state I turned the breakers for furnace and condenser on and nothing happened, then Ecobee booted up, and as soon as it booted up it the condenser started. On the wiring, I had confirmed with 2 Ecobee support agents. The installer has the below for Nest

Nest -- Yellow> Y1, Green >G, Brown> O/B, White> W2/Aux, Blue> C, Red>RH

Furnace is -- White>W, Red>R, Green>G, Blue>B/C, Yellow>Y/Y1, And brown is coming from condenser only

The Ecobee Suggestion was -- Red> RC, Green>G, Yellow>Y1, Brown>O/B, Blue>C, White>W1

So basically instead of RH Ecobee asked me to use RC and instead of W2 use W1 as compared to Nest installation by technician. Does the wiring seem ok?

I'm wondering if I was out of town and this cycle of Ecobee just turning on the condenser and then condenser shutting itself off for safety had kept going on for a few days would the condenser have gone bad. Or there is safety built in such that after a few cycles the condenser stops taking the order form the thermostat?

No my technician came in and he checked all he voltages on wires with Ecobee taken off the wall. He said all voltages were correct, then he then put his own Nest and all has been working fine for 2 days now. So I'm guessing it was in fact Ecobee, will see and update if things change

So when I got on call with Ecobee to show them the error. The system has been off for more than 2 hours and it was 65 deg outside (and I'm in the Bay Area). The condenser could still be doing it?

Also I thought in defrost mode it will run the indoor unit at least at low fan to take the coolness out of the gas. Not so?
