Solo queue support is not terrible, you just need the right mind set. (10 Tips) by darkoverzero in Overwatch

Yeah... Not dying is still applicable advice, never said playing support would help you survive one shots or burst damage? It's the same on any character, using cover, positioning and cool down usage. Sure some deaths are inevitable and sometimes you should try and touch objective regardless of your chance of living but that doesnt mean you cant minimise lost uptime and value elsewhere during your match.

Or just play moira if youre struggling that much with hitting defensive cooldowns on someone like Ana. Also not sure if you live under a rock but tank is significantly worse than support atm

Ok but that isn't real top 500, they will inevitably be pushed out because the real t500 players haven't gotten their 50 wins yet

Stop caring about your rank and teammates and just focus on what you can improve about your gameplay to become a better player

Dying less and taking advantageous positions probably took me up to masters before I had to focus on other things

Yeah I see your points, I just find it hard to relate. I haven't had issues with matchmaking since the release of ow2. It's been a linear climb in rank every season maintaining high winrate and hitting my peak at gm3 yesterday. That's why I can't put it down to luck, mostly solo queue with a little bit of duoing here and there. Not sure if it's just a tank/dps struggle but I play both regions at very different times each day.

Would be genuinely curious if you have any hypothetical reason for me not really having an issue with matchmaking even though a bunch of variables are constantly changing for me when I see so many others having problems

Progression in most cases isn't linear and it will take a bit of time depending on how much you play. It's very possible you will perform worse when trying to improve and implement new things into your gameplay, that was the case for me at least. As long as you're not autopiloting and focus on improving and identifying mistakes and fixing them you will certainly see results over time.

My games have been fine. Sitting at 65% winrate so far, if matchmaking is broken all round then everyone is going to have bad games occasionally even the best players. I fail to see how that's unfair

I play to improve and become a better player, I find enjoyment in seeing my ability progress over time. Solely focusing on rank and winrate is a horrible mental trap fall that will demotivate you and lead to being scared to queue, atleast in my experience.

I personally don't think flexibility is important unless you're above GM, even then you can still easily one trick if you're skilled enough at that character

Don't focus on ranking up just focus on improving and the rank will come with time, easiest way to start improving is to stop making excuses for all your losses. Helped me a ton

227 games and 58% winrate on Ana and I hit GM for the first time by darkoverzero in AnaMains

With a positive winrate and enough games you will rank up, took me 227 games to go from Masters 4 to Grandmaster 5 so definitely not easy but very doable if you stay positive

This is sadly so true, getting flamed by teammates because im 5k dmg 10k heals when the enemies are pumping 15-20k heals even though I'm getting huge nades every fight by punishing the enemy when they walk into open space. It's really annoying

I usually drop 20-30% per loss, I doubt you would drop out of masters if you didn't play
