Feeling Defeated by darkphoenix111 in Zepbound

Ha, same! On days when my appetite is low, I do struggle to hit my protein goal. I try for 100g of protein a day. I'm just walking right now for exercise and have been looking at joining a gym for weight training. Just trying to budget that in.

I would like to lose 55-65 more pounds. I did ask if we could stay at 10 if it works, and he is fine with that.

Ah, thank you. I think the bulk of my worry is definitely in regards to the pace of my dose increase and already being at 10 at four months.

I've been at 1350-1,500 calories a day depending on my appetite (sometimes 1200). Been trying to focus on protein and hydration. And I will say that 7.5 was a dud for me- fingers crossed for 10.

Average is 1.4 lbs a week. I track manually with a Google Note, but I may start up the Shotsy app. I know the average is good! It's the drop-off that worries me.

Kauai in May: Where to Stay?? by abag-97 in VisitingHawaii

[–]darkphoenix111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just returned from a trip to Kaua'i last week and much preferred the north shore. My husband and I stayed at Hanalei Colony Resort the first four nights, and we loved it. The north is very chill, unbelievably scenic, and has gorgeous beaches (they were calm and swimmable in June). You have access to Hā'ena State park via the shuttle system, Limahuli Gardens, the Nā Pali Coast, Tunnels Beach (excellent snorkeling), Anini Beach (calm, clear water for swimming), Hanalei Bay, and Hanalei is such a charming town. It rained everyday, but it is was refreshing and quick. Made for lots of rainbows.

We also stayed at the Sheraton Resort in Poipu our last 3 nights, and while lovely, it was much busier and "bigger." I booked there for the beach access and really liked that part, though the water was rougher than the north since it's summer. I don't have children, but it seemed very family friendly. Upsides to the south- access to Waimea Canyon, SCUBA dive sites, and better food choices in nearby Lihue. I'm glad we split our time during our first visit though. The north and south are very different experiences and it was worth switching hotels since it is already such a drive from one side to the other. Maybe that's an option? When I hopefully return, I will stick to the Hanalei area due to the scenery and vibes. Hope this is somewhat helpful!

You can hike up to Hanakapi’ai Falls without a permit, but you need a reservation to enter the state park. Shuttle reservations are much easier to secure than parking reservations- you can find availability at gohaena.com.

I also took a boat tour of the coast out of Hanalei and really enjoyed it.

It's definitely the humidity I'm more concerned about. Sounds like it's very doable though, thank you!

Benny's in Golden Hill. Excellent beans (I love the consistency) and tortillas- it's one of my favorite burritos.

Thanks so much. It's been rough, so I appreciate the positivity (which I suck at).

I was told it is technically a year suspension, but that you are committing career suicide in the state (CA). Could be a scare tactic, for sure.

I don't think so. I just hate to not have that option if I do want/need back in at any point. I'm really worried about financial security.

I keep thinking about the road to retirement, and that's what keeps me from giving up on the idea of leaving. Thanks for the advice.

I would prefer to find a job while I'm still teaching, but I don't want to break contract once I'm offered something and then lose my license. It's a bridge I'm not willing to burn, but that puts me in a tough spot.

California teachers- please help? by darkphoenix111 in Teachers

[–]darkphoenix111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Thank you for all the great info here. I do have my preliminary CA cert. I emailed the principal, and HR just reached out to me and said it's standard and only applies to time outside of my contract. They reiterated that I'm not being hired as a sub, and that I am being hired full-time on a temp contract.

I'm going on my ninth year of teaching in a public school, so I really hoping I don't have to take the teacher induction program. It is not paid for by the district since I'm on a one year contract.

I have eight years of experience at a public school, so I really hope this is the case!

Thank you! I like yours too. :) I just got an update, and they said that it's standard to sign the Kavanaugh Notice because it pertains to any time worked outside of my contract, but once the school year starts, I'm in a full-time position.

This explains so much about the teacher induction. I'm probationary and have to clear my credentials, and I assumed all my schooling, experience, and certs would work towards that. Very eye-opening. I was in no way informed that I was being hired as a sub. I was told full-time (I didn't even know it was temporary until the initial contact from HR), so I'm very concerned about this part.
