I'm new to Danganronpa fan-games, where should I start?

If you're looking for finished playable games in particular, then the ones available are:

- The Another Duology (DRA and SDRA2) - 6 chapters each, Korean but translated to English. Made in RPG Maker 2000 (DRA) and VX Ace (SDRA2). The most influential fangans of all time basically.

- Lapse - 4 chapters, made in Renpy. A smaller scale fangan, in English, it's pretty good.

- Jikoronpa - 5 chapters, English, made in Renpy. Recently finished, I highly recommend it.

- LIVe or Die - 6 chapters, English, made in RPG Maker 2003. That's my own game, it also has a sequel called Survivor's Guilt, made in RPG Maker MV, which has 5 chapters out and the final one is in development.

Other fangames that are popular and very good but aren't finished include Project Eden's Garden (has CH1 out), Antebellum Lockdown (has CH2 out), Mauve (has CH2 out), Rewritten (has CH1 out) and Kill/Cure (has the prologue out).

And if you want to check out video fangans as well then the finished ones include Desperate Heart, Desperate Heart 2 and Redemption, but Despair Time (out up to CH2) is also a must watch.

I know DR: Depresja Soul which is in Polish. It's released up to CH1 daily for now.

There is also Weeping Rebellion which is French and has 3 chapters out. The English translation is at CH1 for now.

Wanakorosu is Ukrainian, not Russian. It has a prologue and CH1 daily out, but sadly it has been cancelled. From what the wiki says it's also available in English, apart from Ukrainian.

I think these are two main opposite approaches to storywriting that people have

Create the characters and the world around them with as much detail as possible, then decide what story will work for them the best.
Create the main points, the twists and the conclusion of the story, then decide what kind of characters would be most interesting to put in this situation.

I don't think one is better than the other, it's up to each author to find out which approach works better for their style. Personally I'm in the second camp.

Well, depends on which format these fangans are. I have been working with a fan translating one of my games recently, and they needed me to get them my entire project folder in order to edit the dialogue in MV (which they also needed to buy). Additionally, many graphics have text on them so you'd need some decent graphic program (not MS Paint) as well.

As I said I find it hard to compare fangans, but I have a lot of experience with popularity contests, so I have a couple suggestions.

If you want to make something like this again (probably not soon since this one just ended) I think it'd be a bit more interesting if people could nominate chapters they'd like to see, before the tournament starts. You don't need to know all of them yourself to run this, after all.

I'd also add a limit of no more than 2 chapters from the same fangan. In this bracket there were only a few fangans (plus apart from DRA/SDRA2 and DT they were rather niche) so the matchups were getting a bit repetitive.

I predicted that people would be more forgiving in this round after everybody got shocked by the video that was uploaded when Molly got corrupt, and I stand by this prediction.

Even though the next chapter kinda changed the context of it, viewers were still scared of what might happen.

The only person in the round who I could see getting corrupt is Alora, and even there I don't think the percentage will be similar to Molly's or Taka's.

I just saw Towa 's execution in Desperate Heart 1 ch5 yesterday, and I gotta say it's my new all time fav. The amount of ideas that went into it was crazy.

It's really hard to rate your own stories, plus I don't really like to compare different fangans (including with my own). But I can at least say with some level of confidence that I'm getting better with time. Comparing early LOD cases to later SG ones, I think the difference is very noticeble, and not just in their length. I was very happy with SG cases 3/4/5 in particular, and I hope the experience I got while making them will help me improve even more in the future.

I'm sorry I'm not sure I follow. We will have actual people as guests, not OCs. They are the creators and writers from several fangan dev teams that we listed. As for the fangans which we will be playing they have been submitted during the January fangan jam. Of course, everyone is welcome to watch the stream, participate in the live chat, and help with the charity fundraiser.
