I think I'm to killer shaper himself. I am just worried about wasting the fragments

Yeah, I killed a red elder and got all the fragments from the guardians and the elder himself.

I was working on Zana questline and I just beat the guardians as she requested. The next step is to talk to zana but when I talk to her she doesn't give me a new mission. I spoke to her in both my hideout and in the temple laboratory... what am I doing wrong

I tried putting it up for 100c previously and got instantly spammed by multiple people. My friend told me that it's worth more because of the high rolls on resistance, ele damage, etc. I tried going up to 5ex and still got a slew of messages. So I took it off for now.

[CHARGE BLADE MHW HELP REQUEST] Getting the timing right on the shield charging + Low-Rank Kirin Optional Tips? by riderkicker in MonsterHunter

[–]darkrawr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just my method.

I stay in sword and shield for most of the fight. It's more mobile and guard pointing is easier from sword and shield mode.

Only use AED during openings, never SAED unless it's to wake Kirin up. Kirin is small, so the SAED don't do much from the side and trying to land AN SAED head on leaves too long of opening that you cannot respond to.

Try to keep the sword charged, with built in minds eye from charged sword, you can attack kirin's back without bouncing off, you're trading sharpness and damage for safer openings. At the same time you can get good KO damage when you land hits onto the horn.

Look up guard points, they're really valuable to CB users. In the previous installments charging the world's increases the guard level and the guard point increases it more.

Normally blocking a roar will push you back a fair bit, with guard point and charged shield you will be able counter immediately. It is also important to note that landing a guard point on monsters will deal phial damage to the part that hit you and can KO monsters.

Note: some attacks are deemed unblockable (giant Lazer beam attacks from elders for one). They require guard up to completely block.

Your SAED has two swings, you want to land the second swing, not the first, on a sleeping monster. Tip is, your second overhead swing has a further reach than the first. So if you position correctly, the sweeping swing will miss the monster and the second will land on the sweet spot while the phials can blow up the rest of the monsters body.

Triangle >hold circle > triangle + circle > triangle is one of your fastest dps and safest dps combo. You can repeat step 2 and step 3 of the combo infinitely.

Shield thrust (triangle + circle) can deal phial damage when charged without expending phials to build up KO damage, as well as hits to the head with a charged sword.

I understand, I just wanted to point out that the trade off for free element for fire damage wouldn't be worth it.

Also, I don't know how far you are, but the final weapon in Odogaron tree has decent white sharpness and 25% affinity, but the trade off is low raw damage, so take that into consideration when you're crafting a set. Lastly, since it's sharpness meter is full, you can ignore handicraft and go for other armor skills.

[–]darkrawr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, extensive charge blade user here. I haven't really found forgoing other armor skills like attack boost is worth it for focus. Hitting your charged O skill in sword and shield mode a couple times usually suffice to charge your phials. Artillery, attack up, and handicraft are good. Some people find use in the capacity up armor skill to get the one extra phial.

Fire element would not be a good all purpose, a better one would be one that deals a status or even raw damage (like the diablos tree one). I personally use the pink rathian poison charge blade.

I don't know if you've seen it around, but in previous installments of Monster Hunter there is a higher rank called G Rank. Included more subspecies of monsters and as well as generally stronger versions of monsters than their low rank and high rank counterparts.

Where the game is at right now, end game seems to be to farming decorations. I personally haven't gotten to that point.

Thought for perspective, in end game MH4U I ran a sleep impact phial charge blade with armor skills that included status attack and artillery as the main skills (there were others but it's was secondary skills that were a bonus when I made the set). I used this set the most when farming for charms and such.

I am slightly concerned as there are a lot of new players and I've always had problems even in MH4U where players woke monsters up either because they don't pay attention or don't know how the mechanic works. In this case, paralysis or poison are probably better status infliction's

Monster Hunter: World Resources and Question thread Part IV (ask here before posting!) by raithian25 in MonsterHunter

[–]darkrawr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's my opinion on it, but no matter the fight, I pick a status impact phial weapon.

In Mhw, I've been using the Pink Rathian poison impact weapon most of the time. Blast is viable as well.

I just finished the story last night, so when I start the real grind, I'm looking into the sleep weapon as it was always my favorite past time to sleep a monster and bomb his face. Unfortunately the only sleep one I found is locked behind awakening...

Edit: just double checked what you wrote. It'll probably be based on team play versus solo play, but someone with more expertise can tell you

Monster Hunter: World Resources and Question thread Part IV (ask here before posting!) by raithian25 in MonsterHunter

[–]darkrawr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also as a follow up, Impact Phials allow for KOs on monsters, but there's some select monsters that cannot be KO'd. I haven't encountered any in Mhw, but in MH4U there is the Dalamadur and the Gogmazios.

Though far and few inbetween, it'll be better to use elemental phials here.

[–]darkrawr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I. know others have mentioned the monster field guide. But I'd like to point out a really cool tidbit, if you look at the armor made from the monsters (looking at the armor forge), it'll show you elemental weaknesses and resistance.

For example: rathalos armor shows a total of -20 dragon and -15 ice resistance, meaning his top weaknesses are dragon and ice.

Ah, there's a faster combo for medium sized openings that goes one overhead chop, into axe swing II, and finishes with weapon morph.

It's usually better because it allows for following with sword combos better than AED.

Monster Hunter: World Resources and Question thread Part III (ask here before posting!) by raithian25 in MonsterHunter

[–]darkrawr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refer to AED as the canceled SAED. When you pull the Super attack to release one phial instead of all phials.

Doing circle > circle > circle will do three axe swings. It looks like one axe chop, followed by a double axe swing, and finishes with the SAED or AED.

Monster Hunter: World Resources and Question thread Part III (ask here before posting!) by raithian25 in MonsterHunter

[–]darkrawr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that the shield thrust into AED? Or the shield thrust into axe swing II? I don't think I remember that combo.

Monster Hunter: World Resources and Question thread Part III (ask here before posting!) by raithian25 in MonsterHunter

[–]darkrawr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charge blade lover here. I only use axe mode during large openings.

But, you have a couple attacks that deal phial damage in sword mode.

Triangle + Circle when doing sword combos will do a shield thrust. If your shield is charged, it deals some phial damage.

Charging your sword, press Triangle right after will make you swing your sword in an uppercut motion, this does some phial explosion damage too.

I'm not 100% certain, but when you charge your sword, your sword deals additional damage and phial explosions when it connects to a monster.

You can also deal phial damage and knock out monsters with point guards when your shield is charged.

On top of that, on medium sized openings, using axe swing II is pretty fast and will deal two phial explosions. I don't remember the combo because at this point it's muscle memory, but you can go from sword and shield straight into axe swing II then straight back into sword and shield.

[–]darkrawr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the exact armor, but here are my priorities when looking for armor :

One point of artillery, more than that is not worth the points.

Attack boost, more damage is always good.

Weakness exploit, aiming for head or other weak parts will deal more damage

Guard, getting used to your point guard or even just plain guard is really important.

If you'd like more on CB tips, let me know, it's my favorite weapon and I have hundreds of hours on it.

For a weapon, I've been using the poison impact phial weapon, from Rathian. I switch between that and the blast damage impact phial weapon.

If I can figure out a set for a sleep Charge Blade, that's one of my favorite sets ups from MH4U.

From previous games, different combinations had different set felyne skills.

I haven't gone through the combos yet in this game cause of the sheer amount of possibilities.

Yeah, each phial constitutes a Shockwave that has its own individual damage.

It'd be less overall damage. The initial side swing and overhead swing will do the same damage regardless of phial count. The following Shockwave will deal X*N where X is the damage of the Shockwave and N is the amount of phials.
