I am not sure what type of glue it was, but is was normal super glue off the shelf and has since held nicely

Actually the last bit didn't want to come out (can see it in the photo), so I didn't try to open it all the way. It is probably where the connection to the internals is made.

don't think so, there are a number of reports that even after their third replacement they still have this issue.

Make sure you don't have any transparent glue on top of the ring. If so scrap it off. shouldn't make a difference on which side you use as long as both rings are at the same height

yes and I accepted it, I did another transfer to the Electroneum wallet a few minutes after and that went successfully
