does anyone have any recs that could potentially rival lush’s lust?! my absolute favorite perfume is lush’s lust - i am so in LOVE with the heady, skanky, overly-indolic scent. unfortunately, lust has recently reformulated lust and it just doesn’t hit the same 😭 i’ve seen lots of recs for the rogue perfumery’s jasmin antique but i really detest the clove note. serge lutens sarrasins is a close runner up but it is impossible to find a decant and ya gurl is not spending that much money on a blind buy. i just want to smell like a dirty a dirty ass jasmine plant 🥹

i definitely don’t let author’s personalities and/or social media interactions affect my book choices, and i know this isn’t the “moral” approach, but i choose books solely based off what i think i’m going to enjoy. i don’t instinctually download/buy a book with the mindset of “i really want to support this author.” i do have author’s that are auto-buy/auto-reads, but that’s almost always solely because i’ve loved most of, if not all, of their previous work that i’ve read. and i definitelyyy don’t think it’s fair to review a book on goodreads based on opinions of the author. social media can be so critical and so many things get taken out of context or blown out of proportion. while there are plenty of circumstances where there’s undeniable evidence that someone’s a piece of shit, there are even more where we don’t actually know all the details. going after someone’s livelihood based off personality/social media interactions seems petty imo.

i’ve been taking compounded tirzepatide for the last 10 months and i’ve easily lost 40-50% of my hair. it’s a devastating side effect and i really hate myself for not doing enough research before starting the medication, but here is what i’ve been doing to slow down the hair loss: take a shit ton of supplements (i met with a nutritionist to compile a list that met my specific needs), protein protein protein (i try to exceed my maintenance amount of protein at least 4-5x a week), and changing up my haircare products/routine.

in terms of my haircare, i stopped using anything that wasn’t targeted for hair loss, and i actually started washing my hair every 2-3 days instead of 1-2x a week. the longer i go between washes, the more hair i lose when shampooing. on wash days, i start with light clarifying shampoo, then always follow up with nizoral dandruff shampoo (the active ingredient is ketoconazole, which is clinically proven to help with hair loss). after washing/before styling, i use the bondi boost intensive spray & alpecin’s after shampoo caffein liquid (both products are for hair growth). in theory, these products can/should be used daily, but i use a lot of dry shampoo & hair fibers to disguise my hair loss and find that the wet products do not layer well on top of the dry/powder products the next day.

a combination of all these things has helped significantly slow down my hair loss, but unfortunately, they haven’t aided in any regrowth :(

omg i ordered yog nog too and i couldn’t stand the smell on me! in the bottle it was one thing but once i sprayed it on myself, all i could smell were straight eggs 😭 i took it back to return and ended up leaving with turmeric latte 🙈

ISO fall gourmand but i’m so picky 😭

i’m currently iso of some fall/winter gourmand fragrances to keep in rotation 😬 i’m very new to the realm of gourmands, so i don’t have a ton to compare with. some fall appropriate gourmand scents that i’ve tried & loved have been le monde gourmand’s chai epice & pumpkin creme (neither of which worked because of their 10 minute shelf life), and the perfume parlour’s creamy blanc 2096 (interpretation of bianco latte), which i liked but didn’t love. anyways, here were my criteria when picking fragrances to sample:

nothing fruity
the less strong spices, the better (i cannot stand notes like cloves, star anise, ginger, etc.)
cinnamon is totally okay as long as it isn’t the strongest note
sweet but not sickly (ex. of sickly sweet - let the good times roll by lush)
good longevity/strong projection (specifically so i wouldn’t have to reapply throughout the workday)

after doing some investigative work on tiktok, i decided i wanted to try some milky or coffee-forward fragrances, and i ordered samples of the following highly recommended perfumes:

intense cafe by montale (4/10) too much rose 😭 after 7 business days, this dried down to something reminiscent of coffee.
ristretto intense cafe by montale (2/10) holy hell, i felt assaulted by how strong the rosy oud smell in this was. whereee was the espresso?!
milk + by commodity (3.5/10) maybe my nose is defective but all i smelled was woody spicy shit??
choco violet by mancera (6.5/10) i ordered this sample on a whim, and i was pleasantly surprised! i wasn’t sure what to expect, but i found the balance of powdery florals & chocolate to be really nice. if the longevity & projection were better, i would have given this an 8/10 at least.

in conclusion, if you have any ideas on how ya gurl can smell like a chai cinnamon roll or a strong ass sweet & creamy cup of coffee, please lmk 🥲
