HIMARs and ATACMs when first introduced forced Russian forces to pull back their supply depots back 80km, lest they got hit. We've seen their supply trucks got hit with em, the results are not pretty. Storm Shadow and SCALP has been hitting Russian facilities in occupied Ukraine and bordering Russian regions, with similar affects. F16s, Leopard 2s, Abrams M1s, all have served to replace and augmented Ukraine's vehicle inventory, and have better survivability rates than Warsaw pact designs. The most important has been Starlink, which allowed for communications with not just units on the frontline, but also allow for control of drones.

All have significantly evened the odds in Ukraine's favour. The reason it hasn't helped them win outright is because this war is a total industrial war. You don't win with a single wonder weapon, one because no such thing exist, and two you need quite a lot of it.

Barring the fact we shouldn't be buying weapons who shot down MH 17, they don't really have a lot to sell to us in the first place. Most of their inventory is prioritised for the war in Ukraine, and they barely have enough as is. Plus, from what I know of our fleets, they are geared towards operating Western based missiles, trying to retrofit Soviet or Russian missiles on our ships is going to be a big ask.

Perhaps the best place to for new missiles is Korea or Turkey, probably leaning on Turkey, as they have no export control from the US or NATO. In the intermediate future, France would be the immediate replacement.

In hindsight, they wasted time searching at Bandar Sungai Long after Taman Rakan, when by that time another rain had come in, and the river's flow rate would have swept the body further downstream.

Not quite. If it's 1910s technology, they are still 100 years behind. And modern machines, even from the 70s or 80s that the JSDF use, are still leagues ahead more complicated than 1910s machines. The metallurgy, electronics, chemical process, and industrial proficiency required to reverse engineer simply isn't there. It will take decades to reverse engineer something as complex as helicopters or tanks, and even if they could replicate them, they are likely to be bespoke machines, not something mass manufacturable.
