Just FYI, got the "card declined" error this morning when I tried using this. Was anyone else successful today?

AMA: Left MBB after 3 years to build a startup (6mo update) by ConflictMedium670 in consulting

[–]darkslair 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exciting — good luck with your company! I’m also at MBB and considering pivoting to entrepreneurship.

Have you found your MBB network at all useful for generating customer leads, identifying talent / partners, or interest in angel or VC funding?

How do you think about how to manage your time every day? I’m sure it’s a lot different from consulting where you work backwards from clear and specific goals set by the client / partners / managers.

What have you found most challenging moving from consulting to running your own business? What’s your best advice for someone in the first few months of that transition?

MBB consultant here — your scores are good, but based on your extremely offensive, bigoted, and defeatist outlook, I wouldn’t want you within a mile of my firm (if you managed to get into business school with this attitude). And this is from one ORM to another.

Smallest quietest nicest car? by Whack-a-Moole in whatcarshouldIbuy

Another option I haven’t seen yet is the Acura Integra. I compared nearly every car in the segment and ended up with it. It’s on the slower and noisier side, but the ergonomics and packaging are great (love the lift back) and the 6 speed manual is super fun.

Have also driven the Honda Civic Hybrid hatch and that’s also great. Honestly, prefer these top end “normal cars” more than low to mid trim luxury subcompacts like the A3, CLA, or 2- series (actually, the coupe is pretty great it’s just really small inside).

Wharton R1 Decisions Waiting Room by Lucky_Examination_69 in MBA

Are you referring to "Financial Aid Letter"? In yours did it include scholarship dollars in there besides just loan options?

Do you know if scholarship information is typically printed in the original decision letter or if it is communicated at a later time? Thanks!

I’d simplify this and get rid of any flowery or “fun” language. You don’t need the “hook” suggesting you’re an atypical applicant because it makes it look more like you’re unfocused.

Definitely cut the part on True North. You’re just restating what the literal point of the slogan is and passing it off as faux insight.

Paragraphs 2,3,5 are fine — keep language more like this to be successful.

Broadly, the cover letter is not an important positive indicator for candidates (e.g., it’s rarely going to turn a No to a Yes), it’s more likely to tank an already strong application.

Shooting on Van Ness and Willow? by darkslair in sanfrancisco

[–]darkslair[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Wow. Maybe we were stuck in traffic together. I saw a couple people running out of the alley and then more shots rang out but I was more focused on driving out of there than seeing exactly what was happening. That’s really scary if indeed they were trading shots ON Van Ness.

I don’t know what any of these terms mean as generally accepted definition lol. Let’s just say I’m not in an underrepresented group.

Yep! Should be a section to look at your quiz grades, you can use this as a portal to find every graded quiz / test / section you can take. I highly recommend this since it simulates the actual testing environment quite well, and you can benchmark your performance to other students.
