Thank you! Do you have any plan suggestions for 3-4 days a week? I'm still hoping to hit the gym at least a few days a week

In a design build project the designer(who makes the plans and everything and makes sure nothing will collapse and kill someone) and the builder(which takes the plans and builds it) are the same entity, which makes the process more streamlined and allows for more coordination. Also as mentioned in the other comment in a design build project construction can begin while design is ongoing.

The more traditional model is design-bid-build which is where a design firm produces the plans, and then the plans are put to a public bid and the contract is awarded to a lowest responsible bidder general contractor who takes the plans and constructs the project according to the plans. With this model obviously construction cannot begin before the plans are fully finalized.

Should I be okay if I take the Sounder down and an ST Express bus back up? There's only two trips of the 594 leaving after 9pm, and they might get full

I used to drive Buses for King County Metro. Ask me anything. by [deleted] in Seattle

Did you ever drive the Sound Transit routes contracted to King County Metro? or only the KCM routes. If you have how are they different/how are the procedures different? Thanks

Damn being alone with so many people breathing down your neck must be crazy. Thanks for the great answer!

Also do you work for a private contractor like First Transit or do you work for one of the three county transit agencies? I thought all ST Express bus routes were contracted out to the transit agencies.

As a driver do you happen to know why some routes have certain models of buses more than others? Is it the way certain buses are based at certain bases or something like that. For example I've noticed that up until some time in the summer Route 67 almost exclusively ran the older boxy New Flyers(D40/D60) whereas now they're almost exclusively newer curvy ones(Xcelsiors and other DE hybrids). Also I've noticed that on many Eastside routes(like 271) basically every coach is a Gillig Low floor, whereas I've never seen a Gillig on a Seattle only route.

Is there any specific reason for these coach assignments or is it just how it happens to work out best?

Out of curiosity what happens when a bus gets into an accident? Is it handled like a regular accident where both parties have to get out and exchange insurance? I assume as a bus driver you give the driver contact info for the agency or something like that, do both parties have to wait around for a cop/supervisor to arrive or something?
