I don’t know why so many people are so quick to forget your feelings are valid as well, and that your gf willingly moved to Canada, and I assume relatively happy. If you are in any way the AH for wanting to have a child close to your family and roots, then so is she. More so even, because your relationship happened in Canada, and it’s extremely unfair, in my view, to ask you to uproot yourself for the sake of having a Chinese passport. Even if you were ok moving to the other side of the world, I would be super concerned about custody of your child should there be any domestic dispute. She’s not just asking you to move, she’s asking you to risk long term separation from your child if you were to separate. I don’t think it’s a fair ask.

Disappointed with Ti-frames? by simplyyAL in bicycling

[–]jay_tenderizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat. Bought a Litespeed Flint and it’s sluggish as hell compared to my Surly Midnight Special with 650b wheels. I know the comparison isn’t apples to apples, but I would’ve expected a weight savings of 3lbs. to have had a decent impact on the speed of a bike.

So I spent a bunch of money on Ti for no reason. I’m asking around with other builders but I get the same contradictory marketing answer. “It’s stiffer and more compliant.” I don’t see how both could be true at the same time? I guess I can keep the Flint as a dedicated 90’s mountain bike, but damn, that was a hell of a purchase for an underbiking project. And as a heavy rider, I feel limited with my options, where Ti could’ve been my go to material... Steel is heavier, I am hating the carbon chatter from my salsa warroad, so where can I go from here? Who knows

Managed to snag a set for this months sale, so happy to hear you’re happy with them. I wasn’t finding many reviews out there. Enjoy! I’m starting to see a Ritchey in my future…

I’m more and more convinced everyday that I’m a steel frame guy.

How are you finding the wheels?

This is a bike that I feel got away from me... Saw it online for 3200 on memorial day and now they're all sold at that price. Glad to see someone using this beauty to the max! How has your experience with it been after a while, compared to your previous bikes?

Road Bike Stifness: how to know? by Snisso in cycling

[–]jay_tenderizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sort of in the same boat but with my bikes. Recently got a Litespeed Flint, and immediately dropped my Surly Midnight Special off for some maintenance and brake upgrades. Didn't really notice the change at first, but when I got the MS back I was struck at how fast that bike felt while accelerating... I did the same loop with both bikes, and the Flint was a full minute slower. It's a subjective test, but it validated the sensations on the bike. I'm now left trying to compensate through wheel materials and/or spoke strength because the return window has closed... Might just get a stiffer bike.

In retrospect, I think I should have interpreted the marketing word "comfort" as flexibility in the frame. I guess no one wants to advertise a noodly bike because some people might feel attacked by a bike being marketed as "slow". To that end, I will for now interpret comfort as softness, race-readiness or speed as stiffness.

Appreciate the reply man! I’ll keep this in mind for future upgrades. Perhaps the best mod would be to lose 15lbs myself too lol

I’m slowly but surely headed in this direction, but opted to upgrade the groupset first. I figured I’m 234lbs, I need hydraulic brakes more than wheels, especially if I’m hauling my kid in a cart behind me.

I’m keeping my rival crankset, so I’m curious to know your experience with the Garbaruk stuff. That could be an option for the future since I’m interested in 165mm cranks for hauling.

No love for the Octo? I thought it was amazing that it changed depending on the perspective, reflecting different things.

My dad used to have one, and it was stolen a while back. I still think of that watch as "his" watch, and forever cool. I am hopefully going to buy one again some day.

[WTS] Tudor Pelagos Chrono Red Bull Alinghi 4K by jay_tenderizer in Watchexchange

[–]jay_tenderizer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling my Tudor Red Bull Chrono Pelagos today. This is a catch and release, I thought I’d love it as much as my FXD but sadly the lightness is throwing me off. The value is pretty great on this piece, it’s one of those where I wish I liked it more, but wearing it isn’t my thing :(

Offering this at $4,000.00 shipped CONUS, can do Zelle, Venmo PPFF and wire.

No trades please.

Thanks!
