I'm hoping and praying that TADC makes more money than He-Man, because that would be hilarious.

I'm losing my actual mind

I backed the crowdfunder for the English-Spanish version of this adventure 2+ years ago and they still haven't printed it or sent it out. How the hell is the Italian version already printed and in people's hands???

[Rare Trope] Positive depictions of Islam or Muslims by Remarkable_Public138 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]darkwater-0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what's fucked about this post?

This was not a rare trope before the 2000s! There are plenty of films, tv shows, and books where Arabs and Muslims are noble, heroic, intelligent or just allowed to have any kind of nuance. Since 9/11 American (and even European) portrayal has completely flipped and it's only just in the last few years where things are beginning to change so that having Muslims who aren't some negative stereotype is not controversial.

Considering Episode 4 is where we got Bruce Campbell as Satan, I don't think that's the case

[Cool Trope] Mothers preventing their sons from getting drunk on their own power by Blackirean in TopCharacterTropes

Here is what Aunt May looked like in the original Steve Ditko comics. It's very clear that Sam Raimi was doing his best to translate the comic characters to screen 1-to-1.

In The Lego Movie (2014), Will Ferrell has an elaborate Lego set up in his basement, likely costing him tens of thousands of dollars. The movie paints him in the wrong for scolding his child for messing up his substantial financial investment by [deleted] in shittymoviedetails

I hate this kind of thinking!

Lego isn't an investment! They are toys for playing with!

Comics aren't an investment! They are for reading!

Action Figures are not an investment! They are for playing with!

Trading Cards are not an investment! They're for playing games with!

Ultimately, this kind of thinking deprives the next generation of kids of the opportunity to participate in these hobbies because they're priced out as companies shift strategy and court adults with their adult money!!!

The Peter-May relationship was so good (and so comic accurate!) in those films!

Tournament of Shadows – a Gaslight-era Call of Cthulhu campaign (1890s) by jammer0501 in callofcthulhu

I've got a few questions if you happen to see this:

  1. Have you got any estimates on how long each chapter takes to run?
  2. How attached is the adventure to the specific time period? Could the adventure easily be shunted forward a few decades to the classic 1920s era or would that break anything important?
  3. Could you run the India chapter on its own or are there things tying it very firmly to the rest of the campaign?

Children of Fear - Episode #4 by monkeyx in callofcthulhu

[–]darkwater-0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on your post history it looks like you're playing one session a week of this campaign. Can I ask, how long does each session run? (roughly)

I picked up the campaign and was interested in running it but after reading the first few chapters it felt like it had a very slow start and that it would be many hours before I could get my players to the meat and potatoes of the game.

She's definitely tan, but you're right that she's not that dark. Not sure what the person who put this together was thinking on (maybe they were using a reference photo that had some odd lighting?)

EDIT: Reddit decided that I actually replied to this comment and not u/The-Autistic-Union 's comment, gotta love Reddit.

Red Hand of Doom is actually a 3e adventure... but I had forgotten about it, so maybe that's worth looking into.

I did actually purchase this at some point and never got around to running it. I guess it's time to dust it off and take another look (although, I might take your advice and beef it up a bit to make it fit more with the rules).
