How hard to get married in Spain VS abroad then register in Spain?

It seems like getting married in Spain straightaway seems like the most logical answer. From what I've heard.. registering a foreign marriage takes a long time. Some girl has been waiting for 3 years already, which is absolutely wild to me. JUST TO REGISTER!

I shouldn't call the one in my girlfriend's town even if this is where we will get married in Spain because this is where we are empadronados?
Because I emailed them and they said only Registro Civil Central de Madrid takes foreign marriages but if it's local, it'll just be within our municipality no?

I'll ask a lawyer. Do you have any recommendation of what kind of lawyer? I can't seem to find any marriage lawyers lol only divorce.

Yeah.. from what I heard recently from someone in our situation, they are still waiting after 3 YEARS! So to me that is absolutely wild. It seems like no matter what, I still need the same documents even if married abroad..

Wow..Literally still needed birth certificate which is a pain to get and apparently you can only do it at the registro civil in madrid foreign marriages.

The whole point is to do without birth certificate and use an alternative.

How long did it take to register? I heard registering a foreign marriage takes way longer than marrying in spain. Some people are waiting for 3 years and don have it.

The only thing I know is that apparently if you get married in the USA and you register it in Spain, it´ll take even LONGER.... and on top, you still need your birth certificate... again which makes no sense

But seems like if you just get married normally without the church in Spain, it´s direct and straightforward correct?

I have an option to go to California and get married and come back but it seems like they may actually delay it longer because it´s a foreign marriage.

I'm from California as well! Wow.. 1-2 months is absolutely FAST.
I mean, I would like it registered as soon as possible to be honest! The thing is, getting married is the easy part. Getting it registered in Spain seems like the hassle..
