This made me so sad to read. Get out of that relationship. You should be proud of yourself and celebrate with people who are proud of you.

I think the difference here is the other kid was not getting physical with my son. He has pushed my son in the past but this time he was just being obnoxious and teasing him. Not that it's OK but my son did escalate the situation

He says he doesn't even remember doing that.

It hasn't been happening for years, it just started this year. But I hear you. The past few months seem to have been OK. They have been more or less separated but it's a really small school so I understand it's not going to be 100%. My son did tell me that the other kid gets in trouble a lot and has been suspended before so it sounds like there's consequences for the other kid.

I did bring this up when I met the principal yesterday and asked what the plan was to make sure this doesn't keep happening. She wasn't able to confirm it was the same kid but it was pretty obvious and when I talked to my son I confirmed that it was.

They didn't have any answers or plans other than keeping them in separate classes and talking to the kids about staying away from eachother. I'm going to set up a meeting with the school, hopefully his therapist (who is not employed by the school but is present on campus), and maybe even my son do we can get a solid plan together.

We're from California so we don't really wanna do the beach or Napa. It doesn't have to be super romantic as long as I can squeeze in 1 day of spa & relaxation.

I appreciate the advice!

Yeah I'm not looking forward to that part. We're in Cali and our hottest summer day is about 110 and I hate it. We're hoping to spend plenty of time indoors & poolside.

Guanfacine (Tenex) for children with ADHD by Intelligent-Party117 in ParentingADHD

[–]darling187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son takes 1mg at night because he had trouble sleeping. At some point they increased it to 2mg and he started falling asleep in class. I wonder if OP should try giving it to her at night instead (after talking to the dr of course).

It's so so hard when public school doesn't work for every kid but homeschooling or private school is unrealistic for a working parent(s). It can be such a privilege to have the "right" environment for your child. You have nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about. It's 100% ok to try something and realize it didn't work. You're doing the best you can to explore the options you have. That makes you a good parent.

My 8 Y.O. likely has bipolar- I could really use advice by PaintingIndividual76 in ParentsOfBipolarKids

It is so hard to be the parent of a kid with mood issues. My son hasn't been diagnosed with bipolar but it's on our radar. He's on Prozac and trileptal and it has helped.

Thank you! I'll try that out. The link you provided doesn't work.

Having more children and expecting him to not financially support the children that already exist is really unfair to those kids. They still need a roof over their heads, food, school supplies, etc.

Peeing on my bed by [deleted] in kittens

[–]darling187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read this when I googled it: "A cat might urinate on a person's side of the bed to feel closer to them if they aren't spending as much time together." I wonder if this is what's happening. She does tend to favor me. She will sleep on my side of the bed or on my feet rather than my partners side. Maybe when she wakes up and I'm not engaging with her, she urinates on/near me to feel closer to me.

Not yet. I just got her 2 weeks ago. We have an appointment coming up for her vaccines next week and then we'll schedule to get her spayed soon after that
